get draper and voss in and see how they go, both were clearly on the radar in pre-season so lets see if theyre up to it - no time better than against north either

imagine JOM is straight in as well, if he could play for us like billings did for the dees on the weekend that would be great - hhf taking the mark before the i50 and spotting Jye on a lead, dont mind it!

banners to sub and ras to peel for a full run?

Banners is not the sub

Need to play Draper or Davies now as one of them will need to play for the next 6-10 weeks. May as well indoctrinate them versus the Roos.
This makes a lot more sense than Young going back makes.

Both those guys should debut this season if possible and this is a great opportunity.

I think O'Meara comes in, possibly as sub. I'm not a fan of Erasmus playing multiple games as sub.

We risk Erasmus becoming deflated and looking elsewhere for more opportunities

he did alright on the weekend but hes on the backend of the 22 and JOM is an automatic in i think atm - banners makes great impact as the sub as well
It's such an insult to a player who puts it all in each week, which is why he is much loved by a lot of Freo fans. To make him a sub in a team full of injuries is taking advantage of his loyal nature. He has joked about being the 'super sub' but it would have to be deflating. Look what happened with Mitch Marsh when people and the media finally started believing in him.
What we don't want is Banners leaving to go to a club where he is guaranteed more game time.
Banfield showed how versatile he is when he was pushed down to cover the backline in the last quarter. He was unprepared for that role and did a great job!

Agree there is some danger in that. If he doesn't understand that his clock is set to chime when Fyfe's clock winds down, then there is some risk.
I feel like Johnson is our next Fyfe, and I am interested to know what our newest recruits will be like. Fyfe was a slight as Erasmus when he first played, but was elite from day one.

Nah, Johnson is no Fyfe. They have completely different skill sets. Fyfe was a monster in the air and in the contest. Johnson doesn't have the contested marking of Fyfe. Johnson is his own unique self that is like a combination of Fyfe, Mundy, and Crowley. It remains to be seen how elite he can become.

I think we might have to leave Johnson and Erasmus in the 23 throughout the year. They aren’t developing as quickly as first thought. They need the games.

Erasmus I see projecting as De Boer. A solid soldier, but not A-grade material. I just don't see the hype or what he brings, and for now he's probably unfairly judged on where we took him in the draft. And ... I'd love nothing more than to be proven wrong

We would never pick players based off the fear of them looking for opportunities else where. If they are good enough for the 22 they are good enough, otherwise they have to do the true apprenticeship until a spot opens up.

Its clear both of Fyfe and Omeara don't have long left. If Erasmus isn't willing to wait and have faith in the project and his own progression, then we are better off letting him go rather than making our game day squad weaker.

Not only would we be weaker short term, but it sets a horrendous example and could lead to a poor culture. The last thing you want is new draftees making threats of disloyalty unless they get their way.

There's several that are near 200cm, but if they can't get selected ahead of Coleman-Jones, I would think they are close to WAFL reserves standard.

CCJ is so unbelievably crap, we’d be better off playing Greenwood forward and to relief ruck.

Charlie Comben is very promising, but he had a delayed start to pre season after shattering his ankle is about round 7-8 last year. They are playing him down back in the vfl because they think it will be easier on his body.

It’s really frustrating because he’d be our best pressure forward, a very good ruck option, and is a great mark when he’s confident. But it seems they are trying to build him up slowly for the second half of the season.

Sellers is the other one. He just got onto the list before final list lodgement. Kicked 6 in a vfl praccy match last week. He’s 193cm.

Every north supporter would prefer him over CCJ.

We desperately need a genuine second tall forward.

I feel like your drafting team would rather shoot themselves in the foot then actually draft someone over 195cm tall

he hasn't really been given a lot of opportunity in his preferred position.

Anyone think Fyfe might sit out, Marvel surface has not been good to him over the years, 6 day break with another 6 day break ahead next week. I am not saying he needs a rest, purely the venue but the added factors mean I can see it happening.
I have been wondering this yeah. Guess it will be his call.
I think they will sub him out if he plays and there are no injuries.
This was one of the games flagged in the preseason where Fyfe would be considered to not play.

I reckon Draper should come in for McDonald to see what he can do at AFL level. He's looked the goods in pre season.
An obvious one is Walker (if fit) for Worner, and I would personally keep the structures and get in a tall forward to replace Cox.
If it is out of Tabs, Sturt and Voss then I'd be inclined to pick Voss. Also, JOM is a favourite of JL and will somehow make his way into the best 22.

Ins Draper, Walker, Voss, JOM,
Out Cox, McDonald, Worner, Erasmus. Sub: Bailey Banfield.

We are really starting to test our depth - and it's only round 2....

So there's a faint chance we can do a massive beating in North?

I remember the last time North Melbourne has injuries, especially to their defenders vs Freo, round 1 2019.

Kicked at least 20 goals that day. Cam McCarthy kicked 5.

Faint chance... We will win by 7-10 goals. Last years disaster will be erased from memory by the lament of North fans. We will start slowly and by half way through the third the game will be over. Time for champagne, romance the wife, watch the goals pour on and enjoy the start of something beautiful!

I would not be surprised if there are a lot of babies on this board in the next 24 months from sheer over stimulation at our dominance.

Yeah but life's not fair mate, and we are not playing for marbles.
If they reckon JOM offers more than Banners (and he probably does) then they will pick him.
Also, I'm not sure how much opportunity Banners would get at other clubs to be honest. If he has a great relationship with JL and is a fringe player, I don't think that translates to being best 22 at other clubs.

I think you are incorrect, but that's ok
