Does he need to be a line coach to have an impact?

“Justin will help develop and implement the football program’s strategic vision with Craig McRae, provide direction and leadership to our data and analysis division, mentor all coaches and assist in our list management and recruiting areas.

“Brendan will play a pivotal role in continuing to improve the connection across the football department and the wider business while also utilising his extensive leadership and culture experience to continue to further develop our athletes and staff.”

“Although Justin and Brendan will not coach a line group next season, they’ll actively be involved on a match-day.”

In any case. No matter what the roles of Leppa and Bolton are now.. They are moving into different interests of the departments, and we have to adjust to the new coaching element. Nothing can ever stand still or stay the same. You always have to be evolving.
Very true Jen. It would be nice if people could have a little more faith in the club.

Sounds like a pretty big influence on coaching and strategy.

Who knew?

Preferably evolving also doesn't exclude winning.

I don't know about the baby, but I would certainly be pulling the plug on the bathwater.
Well mate, that’s your choice.
I have been lucky enough to attend three wining premierships.

I’m going to stick with the team a little longer after winning it last year.

Looks like it to me too. In fact, it looks like they are the bosses of the coaches. Couldn't influence them any more, in fact..! 😉
Bloody management, always making things too complicated and stuffing it up.

Your point remains, but in isolation. The bathwater to which I was referring was that upon which the players have over imbibed in the wake of their 2023 premiership.
The bathwater will be out of their system by the time we meet Port.

It’s going to be something.

Now if we'd lost Leppa & Bolton to other clubs & Wright left for his 6 month holiday .. then we'd really have something to whine about.
I came across Leppa in Bali in 1999.
I’ve never seen a human that drunk.

Mate, I think some people are ready to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

I have total confidence in how the club is being managed.
I reckon both would be involved on game day . Maybe not so much in strategy and processes, I reckon that would undermine the 2 new line coaches. There is also during the week that the two in question would be involved in with players. Game day would be the collective result of the whole weeks work by the whole football department I would imagine. I doubt losing them as line coaches has had an effect on our form. It's been the players mindset, when we are fully switched on and pressuring everything , we are bloody awesome

It all just sounds like wanky corporate job titles to me. One of our assistant coaches is the director of coaching? Assumedly our head coach answers to his assistant - the director of coaching...
Fly only answers to God.

And God is pissed off at the moment!

But if you have a coach like Tarkyn Lockyer, all the mentoring in the world was not going to make him a highly effective coach. Maybe mentoring can create some improvements, but ideally you'd want your old football heads and best communicators at the coalface at training and at matches, rather than in management or coordinator's positions. Some people are born to lead and instruct others and some are not. Doesn't sound like we have much choice in the matter if everyone who is an Indian wants to be a chief.

Sounds like a typical school structure.

I

Think Bolts was Director of coaching last year too...
Yes. One of about 5 assistant coaches was the director of coaching sitting below the head coach and probably also below another one of the assistant coaches... The job titles are a wee bit wanky.

I know right
It is almost like Fly has been left like the naked swimmer when the tide goes out after losing the influence of Bolts and Leppa
Boom tish…

Leppa is at training. Bolts & Leppa are there on game day. Bolton sits right next to Fly on the bench during the game. They are directly involved with all the coaches, players and list management. They're not sitting in an office negotiating sponsorship deals for the club 🙄
