Why would the party that gained the most votes and will be in power need introspection?

Ever stopped to think normal people have stopped listening to your rants and you are now treated as crazy and fringe?
Because they don't want to be divisive like Bad Joe Biden. Right? Wasn't this the thing to say about him after he won?

Spot on. Did a double take reading his posts. Genuinely thought it was Aristotle Pickett or even Robert De Niro, off on another of their unhinged, illogical and hate filled diatribes. Most normal people just laugh at, and pity those 2 now.

Can envisage him literally foaming at the mouth as he works himself into an enraged frenzy, and pours forth his toxic bile. Not sure how the poor guy is going to survive the next 4 years.

Lol. No self awareness.

As much as I think Trump should be in jail for his various crimes, think about this. In an alternate universe in which no criminal charges were laid against Trump since he left office, would that have taken enough air out of his martyrdom shtick for him to lose this election?

Which crime should he be in jail for?

Where’s that introspection.

Trump will declassify everything he agrees with and nothing that could have any negative impact on him or his friends.

1. Taking classified documents home (federal charge)
2. Attempting to interfere with state level election processes (Georgia charge)
3. Attempting to overturn the 2020 election result at a federal level (federal charge)

As for the the hush money stuff, I concede that falsifying business records of that kind isn't really worthy of a custodial sentence.

'Kamala Harris received at least 22,000 fewer votes than Joe Biden did four years ago in Michigan’s most heavily Arab American and Muslim cities, a Guardian analysis of raw vote data in the critical swing state finds.'

Like Turkeys voting for Christmas as donny will want to deport muslims.

I can vaguely understand the disaffection of US Trump supporters, because they've been abandoned by their political system for decades.

But the Australian MAGA who've slithered out from under their rocks are an altogether more noxious and simple bunch. They're just in it for the hate. They can't be considered serious people.

They've latched onto the most cynical and embittered elements of an American phenomenon without realising how completely hysterical they sound as they tell everyone about smiting the dangers of communism and 'critical race theory' and gender fluidity, or whatever other talking point they've picked up off the filthy floor of a US podcast.

American MAGA are people to be listened to, examined, understood, and then challenged within the very particular context of American society. Australian MAGA deserve only contempt, and mostly that's what they get. It's the preserve of embittered blokes who think that their own special brand of stupidity is in the ascendent, not twigging to the fact that they're an irrelevant and ridiculous echo of something they themselves barely understand.

Homophobia. Transphobia. Racism. Misogyny. It's the same sad cocktail which has driven Pauline Hanson since the 1990s, but now it finds some volume in Australia because a bunch of silly people see what they want to see in the US and think they're on a winner.

But they're destined losers.

You accuse people off being hateful and then you post this hatefull rant. The lack of self awareness is quite unbelievable.

Am I supposed to apologise for hating beliefs which are based on nothing but the intolerance of and hostility towards minority and/or marginalised groups?

Am I supposed to feel anything more or less than a special form of contempt for Australian MAGA, given their self-indulgent hatreds?

I'm quite self-aware. More relevantly, I've very aware of the toxicity which underpins Australian Trumpists.

Spot on. And I did laugh at the poster who called it hateful, because he embodies to a tee the hate-filled, low intelligence non-American that you are describing.

It goes some way to explaining the election result, of course. Your target is the "noxious and simple bunch" of non-Americans, but there is a solid core of Americans who share these traits. Often referred to as Trump's "rusted-ons", they helpfully enable us to identify them via their preferred label, MAGA.

Add this solid core to those that would rightly feel aggrieved in their lives due to the inherent inequity in the US that is more extreme than almost any other Western nation - i.e. those with understandable disaffection - and the election numbers are somewhat explained. The latter haven't necessarily become pro-Trump, but it seems that many demonstrated their position by refusing to vote for the Democrats (in many cases, by not voting at all).

There are certainly plenty of American MAGA who are just as devoid of decency as the Australian kind, but overall I reckon they're a more diverse crowd.

Yes, you've invented an arbitrary reason or standard (political reasons) on which to base your view of equivalency, rather than the facts of what actually happened in each case. According to your own logic, one side to could block every appointment to the end of time and it would be the 'same' as the other side doing it once, because they're both being done for 'political reasons'.

Nonsense, obviously.

Except that it was the Democrats who did the blocking, over and over and then cried when it happened to them, once.

Smart politicians know that if they don't play by the rules, one day they will find themselves on the receiving end because as sure as the sun coming up, one day they will not be in power and the other side will not forget or forgive.

I said smart politicians, not the idiots running the Democrats.

Obvious, really.

Keep doing you mate. Just dont expect the result to be different.

The main this I've learned from this election is that the left aren't going to learn a thing.

Correct and because they didn’t get their way they are doing what they always do by calling everyone racist, bigots, etc just because they don’t agree with them. It’s like clockwork.

The result you're referring to is the US.

The lessons we might learn from the election don't apply here in the way that you seem to think they do.

The low-rent aspects of MAGA which Australian Trumpists cling to will not shift the dial here.

But you keep doing you.

If you've got some actual evidence for what you say is responsible for the economic rehabilitation of the South, I'd be keen to see it.
