USA 2024 US Presidential Election: Trump vs Harris (pt II)

The result you're referring to is the US.

The lessons we might learn from the election don't apply here in the way that you seem to think they do.

The low-rent aspects of MAGA which Australian Trumpists cling to will not shift the dial here.

But you keep doing you.
Keep up the hate. Its all you have.

Keep up the hate. Its all you have.

Not at all. I've got more than a small portion of contempt.

I've also got some brain activity. I reckon I'd be able to craft a more credible defence of support for MAGA than any of the Trump floaters I've seen on this thread.

And I've got a keen sense of bulls*** which helps me to see the maggots behind the MAGA.

But hate is there, for sure. Maintaining the rage.

1. Taking classified documents home (federal charge)
2. Attempting to interfere with state level election processes (Georgia charge)
3. Attempting to overturn the 2020 election result at a federal level (federal charge)

As for the the hush money stuff, I concede that falsifying business records of that kind isn't really worthy of a custodial sentence.

So the vibe. Nothing he has been found guilty for…. The only thing he has been was a made up day of charges for political outcome which really has backfired…

Only have to look at the documents issue where trump is trying be prosecuted where old Joe got off because he was “ nice old man” with dementia

The decision on whether Judge Marchan overturns Trump's appeal in the case in New York has to be decided by Nov 12. It was delayed until after the election results. If the judge doesn't overturn the guilty conviction the sentence will be given later in the month.

If you've got some actual evidence for what you say is responsible for the economic rehabilitation of the South, I'd be keen to see it.

Next time DYOR

While warmer weather plays an important role in the six-state South’s rise relative to the Northeast, it is not the only factor. The six states in the South also have much freer economies and lower tax burdens, as shown in the table below.

Rochester, NY- Sun Belt states is getting too much attraction as more and more companies relocate from the north to mainly cut down operating costs

People who have moved to the South have told Business Insider that their primary motivations include better job opportunities, more tax- and business-friendly environments, and nicer weather
What Jacksonville does have is a powerful lure for companies and people looking to work for them. In Dun & Bradstreet’s case, that included a $100 million package of cash and tax incentives.

You need to unburden yourself from whst has been.

You wont though.

I can vaguely understand the disaffection of US Trump supporters, because they've been abandoned by their political system for decades.

But the Australian MAGA who've slithered out from under their rocks are an altogether more noxious and simple bunch. They're just in it for the hate. They can't be considered serious people.

They've latched onto the most cynical and embittered elements of an American phenomenon without realising how completely hysterical they sound as they tell everyone about smiting the dangers of communism and 'critical race theory' and gender fluidity, or whatever other talking point they've picked up off the filthy floor of a US podcast.

American MAGA are people to be listened to, examined, understood, and then challenged within the very particular context of American society. Australian MAGA deserve only contempt, and mostly that's what they get. It's the preserve of embittered blokes who think that their own special brand of stupidity is in the ascendent, not twigging to the fact that they're an irrelevant and ridiculous echo of something they themselves barely understand.

Homophobia. Transphobia. Racism. Misogyny. It's the same sad cocktail which has driven Pauline Hanson since the 1990s, but now it finds some volume in Australia because a bunch of silly people see what they want to see in the US and think they're on a winner.

But they're destined losers.

But if we were all as smart and virtuous as you, you'd have nobody to hate. Then what ?

I think the hope from many normal people is that another Trump win might lead to a bit of introspection fro left leaning people
What is needed? "Hmmm... maybe rape isn't all that bad after all", you reckon?

You're the one who made the proposition and then put forward false evidence for it.

And now you've put forward 'evidence' which still establish the proposition.

Thanks anyway.

You haven't quite captured the implication of what I've been saying.

I'm not focused on the US election. I'm focused on the ways in which Australian MAGA think that the election resonates in an Australian context.

Australia is about 12-24 months behind the world, that is all. First Federal then Vic elections. It will be a blood bath

Why would you need to do that?
You're the one that suggested introspection. I'm just trying to work out what you think it should be about.

Maybe it's the left's stance against neo-Nazis that you think needs a rethink?

Help me out here, mate. It will take forever to go through every topic.

I'm certain they believe the voters are to blame
That is their biggest failing. Anyone who doesnt agree with them must be stupid, deplorable or garbage.

Winning elections is about trying to get people who dont usually vote for you to vote for you. Vilifying people isnt really the smartest way of doing that.

The Bloomberg report which made absolutely no mention of the 'factors' you'd listed in your post.

You're memory is a bit 'Bidenesque', isn't it.

from which these quotes are pulled:

What Jacksonville does have is a powerful lure for companies and people looking to work for them. In Dun & Bradstreet’s case, that included a $100 million package of cash and tax incentives....

In recent decades, the warmer weather, lower taxes, looser regulation and cheaper housing lured companies and retirees. But this pandemic-era Sun Belt economic upswing is wider in scope....

A few feet away, Rosemary Taibi, 59, concurred. She and her husband slashed their property taxes to $2,000 from $16,000 after moving from Randolph, N.J.: “It’s a big difference.”

No.

That only applies to people who say stupid, garbage things while disagreeing.
