There were some celebrations in the middle east which were widely shown after 9/11. There was no way anyone in the US would have started celebrating openly , they would have been lynched or shot.

The conservative side of politics has created this.

1. Conservatives no longer contest policy. Trump now has "concepts of a plan"
2. Conservatives no longer accept established facts. They have invented "alternative facts" to bypass that.
3. Conservatives no longer adhere to any convention. Trump at Arlington, Morrison multiple ministries, Trump not accepting election results, ......and on and on and on.....
4. Conservatives no longer accept critical press. It is either "fake news" or "left leaning" or "biased" or "unfair"

I use the word "conservatives" to describe a side of politics knowing that none of Trump/Morrison/Boris etc. are actual conservatives - they are all reactionary populists.

Basically, this sort of conservatives are no longer conservatives, and if they have any self-respect at all, should start calling themselves radicals.

I’ve been recommending Nick Bryant’s recent “The Forever War” to everyone for a comprehensive account of how American democracy was only ever built on delusion.

That’s fine with me; the Yanks can do whatever they want in their sandpit, and it’s an incredible place and a lot of them are the loveliest people you could ever hope to meet, but they had to drink their own bath water and impose it on the rest of the world.

The decision of over turning RvW and Dobbs, doesn't mean much even if the states have their own legislation legalising aspects of abortion. Trump said Harris would need the majority of House and Senate, this isn't strictly true and project 2025 and Trump know this.

There is still another act that he could impose if he became President and that is the Comstock Act 1873.

I think if you had, it would have strengthened your argument if you mentioned them.

It's easy to look like you're being picked on if you're the one telling all the lies.

If you only watched Trump in the first debate, he was worse then than he was this time.

The real lesson of the first debate was how useless both of them were. One was more incoherent than the other, but both were bad.

The Dems learned their lesson. The GOP have not.

That depends.

If you live in a well-off GOP-voting district, in a state run by the GOP, there's very rarely queues.

If you live in a poor Dem-voting district in a state run by the GOP, there's going to be long queues and lots of checks.

The GOP has traditionally tried to suppress the vote the most, but I'm sure the Dems are doing it in some places too, but it's very one-sided. It's very very rare that you hear GOP people talking about voter encouragement.
