How the Lib Dems consolidate will be interesting.

1997-2010 they progressively increased their national vote but didn't change much in seats as it seemed to build-up in Labour-LD contests and they were hamstrung by the gradual Tory recovery (and going from Hague-Howard-Cameron toward the centre)

Greens probably now occupy the space where Labour-LD were previously battling, so they should have more focus on guarding against a Tory rebound.

Well Albanese was supposed to be, maybe Starmer will go the other way.

All he's really done is let the Conservatives collapse.

Considering how many seats they've won, I've not looked through a lot of seats, but Labour haven't made double digit gains, it's just that Conservatives are falling by so much (mostly because of reform).
True. Fingers crossed he was just trying to avoid the Murdoch pile-on.

Brave, progressive policies are needed in these times otherwise things will continue to spiral like they have here. Labor were too scared to do anything here so I'll be watching on with great interest how Labour go over there

Austerity measures over there are so stiff because of the impact of Brexit, there's plenty of work just to undo the damage, but the economy isn't growing strongly and foreign investment is drying up.

There have been 4 pro-Palestine independents elected, as many as Reform. So while Murdoch's rags will cling to the Brexit/Reform idiocy they've been promoting, at grass-roots, Gaza is just as important to Brits.

If you include the Greens, it's 8 v 4.

They shot themselves in the foot when they formed a coalition government with Camerons Tories, and ditched most of their signature policies (student loans being the big one) in exchange for a seat at the big boys table.

It's good to see them back again. They're a true 'small l' liberal party as opposed to Labor who are still a little too socialist for my liking (notwithstanding the hard work of Blair - copying our own Bob Hawke - to drag them into the 21st century).

Not a chance in hell.

In fact, you're quite likely to see Fr-exit in a few years when Macron gets the arse, and France is run by the Far Right.

Leaving Germany in a position where it's basically running most of Continental Europe and opposed by the French and the British.

Again.
I thought Fr-exit was going to be called Fr-*** off?

But nah, I doubt France or anybody else for that matter would leave the union after witnessing the results of Brexit (middling at best) and NR would instead become a louder, more important version of Hungary that rails about the impacts of the EU on the country while still quietly accepting the benefits that come from it.

1997 v 2024. Labour seat total slightly lower on account of the urban losses over Gaza and I think population changes? (I know Wales doesn't have as many seats now)

Otherwise they've done better in London, Bucks., Herts., Kent, Dorset, Cornwall

Tories have kept a presence in Scotland this time. Lib Dems solidly broken into the home counties. East Anglia a mess.

Labour
