Not too bad. We run and support each other well. Sometimes we give the handball when the option has closed, when we should have the vision to pull it back and look for another option. Possibly implied pressure.

We also over-commit a lot and are easily baulked by opposition players.

Much better intensity though. Tackle pressure is high.

Ball over the back of a contest in the thread. That's awful. What on earth were Pound and co doing at ground level?

Too many running to the contest and not affecting it at all.

whenever we get some sort of a chance we just burn it

I guess we take something out of our ability to create opportunities, and hope those chances become goals in time.

How does this team get fixtured to play the 2 teams that played in last years GF anyway?

Surely 4 wins from 10 and a low percentage sees you avoid playing all the powerhouse clubs the following year.

It's actually worse than that based on the live ladder.

We have played 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 16, 18

We play 6th next week.

While the stats don't show it in all cases, I've liked things I've seen from Austin, Goering, Sherar, Robertson, Vescio and Brown.

Missing Peterson, McKay, Vickers, Velardo

9 players 22 or under tonight, and most of them are our best players. We have a lot of older players that didn't come through the much improved junior system.

As long as we can keep this group together, we'll be fine. Very much a developing side.

It looks like we start reasonably well, can’t hit the scoreboard, drop our intensity, skill chains are few and far between. With the expansion teams diluting the talent pool, we need to accept three years of high draft picks and another 5 years of development on top of that, no easy fix unfortunately.

We are not that far away. A couple of players make a big difference. Slightly better system and a bit more professionalism wouldn’t go astray either.

Moody starts slow every single season. She is a star and a competitor, but clearly is not a pre season worker.
Have had high hopes for Skepper, she was a real athlete last season, but in the space of a few months has “rolls”.
Had high hopes for Austin, but is trying to play like a key pillar, nit a mobile forward.

We are getting another McKay soon who shapes as a star. We need a couple of robust KPP types who aren’t due for the pension. Kez and Cordner are great, but not who we can build around. Still amazed we got rid of Trudgeon who had fallen out of favour. We have enough firepower forward, but precious little system.

Our midfield with McKay, Sherar, Guerin and should be Hill leading the way is quality, we need to build from that. There are some other good midfield contributors, but we need system and personnel inside the arcs. Realistically three quality players could make a phenomenal difference. We have some good role players developing, just have to deploy them effectively.

Hoping you are right CB, just feeling a little less optimistic this morning.

It’s a horrible watch at the minute but there’s always next week.
