Obviously some won’t make it and this team will have some experience scattered through it. But the foundations are there. Just need to get a ruck via FA

20s gonna be more like a 30 nothing pick after all the bids, talent will be picked clean.

It won’t be that bad. But he was trying to claim it as top 20, ignoring if they get LDU compo it’s now at best pick 20 if we finish last. Plus there’s at least 3 maybe 4 club tied players going before pick 20 too so it’ll be about 24 barring more compo. Can’t see it getting into 30s though.

Picture of when FOS wanted to play footy with all his mates and they were choosing teams:

This gag doesn’t work

You don’t pick the teams you want to play for

Secondly he’s better than pfieffer on a like for like

Thirdly you’d take FOS even when norf have to trade him to us

Pretty disappointing effort if im honest with you

You post like I care what you think. 🤣

Better get used to three letter acronyms in 2025 my draft watching friends as the hyphens are coming, featuring CDT (Cooper Duff-Tytler) right at the pointy end of the draft pool. A tall ruck/forward who moves fantastically for his size, is clean below his knees and skilled with the footy. Plays more like a midfielder than a ruckman after the tap. More dominant through the middle than as a forward at this stage, which is a slight concern given he's "only" 199cm tall.

Rodriguez's athleticism and professionalism are very impressive, especially considering he has had a bad run with both injury and illness throughout the year. I have some connections with his family and schooling and can say with confidence he ticks all the right boxes to make it at AFL level - dedication, leadership, mentality on top of natural ability. Hope we draft him!

There could be some absolute unicorns in the next draft even though it's compromised. Sharp might even go outside top 3 at this point.
CDT, Ludowkye, Emmett and Rodriguez all pushing for pick 1.

Good thing we have 2 chances at pick 1 with North's future first.

Probably not ideal if a KPF becomes pick 1. I'd be shocked if we took a ruck but 12 months ago I'd have been shocked if we traded all our best players out at once.

What won't shock me is Rodriguez passing Sharp.

Question

Does the AFL still have that rule where all clubs need to draft 3 kids a season?

How many picks do we have? I'm sure we traded out our 2nd, 3rd & 4th rounders already? Blair's interview yesterday he mentioned the compromised draft so didnt seem keen on making any late picks hence why we were happy to trade Alger in.

Shrewd business?

He forgets they still lose LDU, so this pick 3 compo will have to be used to replace him. The only positive North really get from this trade is if Whitlock turns out to be a good player for them and they got our F2. The compromised draft however will push that into the 20's.

3 list changes. Can be promoted rookie but we also have a F/S. Once he gets to pick 37 it's just match with our next pick (I.e. 5th rounder)

I think you have to make 3 list changes but you can get by with only drafting 2 in the national draft then promoting a rookie/s. We might have a father son we can draft or add to the list late in Kellaway to get to 3 if we have to anyway

I reckon our strategy this year is going to attempt to be replicated by other teams in the coming years. The one year rebuild where you trade out a bunch, invest heavily in the draft then let your natural shitness for the next couple of years get you the remaining picks you need to complete the list build.

It's actually pretty genius (if it works) because it sets expectations at zero for a couple of years and it hurts other teams like this year where we have taken the bulk of the talls so others have to get the scraps. Pies will be next to do it for sure, the cliff is right there and I reckon Fly ****s off if they are bottom 4. He's won a flag, he might as well ride that achievement and take the next job available rather than stay for the rebuild.

Problem is for Pies they won't have any currency outside Softcos and his brother. De Goey and Moore will be 29.

They can't trade spuds like Schulz because they can't trade with themselves.

Also, we lucked out big time with the strength of this draft.

I think they will try...I agree I don't think it will be successful. Where we got first rounders maybe they can get second and third rounders. They can't top up forever, they aren't like Geelong getting sucked off by the AFL every year.

If we finish last, I actually think that is the best-case scenario if there's a standout tall at Pick 1.
By then we'll have a good read on the talls we've taken already and if we don't think there's a couple of 200 game players there then we take the tall at Pick 1. If we're already confident with the ones we have on our list, then we'll have clubs falling over themselves to trade up to get him and could end up with a bunch of picks for us to take a number of mids.

Despite drafting a range of tall's we didn’t recruit a pure ruckman and will still need a genuine Nankervis replacement. If Emmett or CDT prove to be out and out ruckmen rather than forwards they could fill a genuine need.

I’m a big believer in going best available with early picks but right now i think a ruckman and midfielder would be my preferred combo. Obviously in twelve months time we may have a totally different outlook though.

It’s a weird one. Will obviously have to play it on its merit, but a no.1 KP has to either be super special given the reluctance teams are having drafting KP early these days or the best mid in class is Will Phillips quality.

i think if clubs are desperate for our pick 1 then I’d rather the KP player.
