Why would we split the 2nd pick ?

We will most likely just take 3 maybe 4 selections in the draft and just take the 2 best rated mids
Sharp looks a monty for pick #1 beast inside mid and a player like Rodriguez is exactly the mid we need with his excellent kicking and dual sided. Then we have the Kellaway boy
Just add a project small foward with speed and call it a night
Because is we don't have pick 1 & 2 West Coast likely take Rodriguez. If thr BA is another tall forward I think we would potentially split the pick.

I think if we hold the 2 picks we will bring 2026 picks forward a year as well. Made sense to trade out of 2025 due to bid threat on Kellaway. Can't see us only having 3 picks.

I'm sure they could get the Kellaway points easily without touching the 2 early picks. He's projecting to be a mid to late pick right?

A trade into future or a fringe player out would get it done. Or FA comp (haven't looked at our FA).

We have the fewest points but the highest points value as it stands. Melbourne and Collingwood in a world of hurt given their lack of R1 picks and being the 4th oldest and oldest lists respectively. Essendon with the 4th youngest list and 4 picks in the first 2 rounds may actually be getting their shit together now that Dodoro has departed and could finally win a final at least in the next couple of years.

Yeah I meant we would trade in live when no bid is on the clock. Made sense to trade out the F3 & F4 because at least one would get eaten up. Can see us trading in an F3 next year either before or after Kellaway.

We won't need to split tjose 2 picks for matching, more if we think we can get a better fit by splitting into say 10 & teens pick.

If we have 1 & 2 I think we would just take the best 2 but more thinking if it's pick 5 and best available isn't a great list fit.

What do we use to match a Kellaway bid with no picks?

Ideally Lalor, Smillie and McAuliffe show that getting Sharp would be over-capitalisation, while Sharp looks a clear no.1. Adelaide offers us pick 4 and say their next two future firsts for pick 1 and a future second. We trade those for Harley Reid.

Some version of that, **** around at the margins all you like but Get Harley.

If Adelaide give us enough for 1 to get Harley it's a no brainer.

Think our best bet is he spends his 3rd year there and we use our picks in 2025 as they'll try fist us with our 2025 haul and future picks.

I think after certain point it's just your next pick which would be our 5th rounder
We'll get the pick we need in the 2025 Trade Period - plenty of scope to trade a player.

I feel like Adelaide will rise a decent amount this year.

This Harley Reid obsession needs to stop. It’s one player. Putting all our eggs into one basket is stupid.

Right now it's a fantasy but if he hasn't extended his contract by mid to late next year every Melbourne club will be coming for him.

We would be stupid to not at least try with our picks. He has potential to be one of the greats

Not sue if Eagles take fred as they will be after a big inside mid well thats just my opinion anyway
I have doubts our F2 or F3 will hold much value and certainly wouldnt be trading our 2026 F1 with where we will be sitting on the ladder its way too early for that.

If we take Sharp , Fred & Kellaway plus another kid late or Rookie thats 4 players which would be about right with the players we will have finishing up. I just cant see anymore than 4 players

I'd disagree.

All of West Coast's recent early picks have been big bodied mids or players or guys who will transition to the mids - Reid, Ginbey, Hewett, Bo Allan, etc.

They will be gunning for Rodriguez hard. Exactly what they need.

Ginbey , Hewett and Bo Allan are very long odds to make it as inside mids
After Kelly & Yeo retire they have Reid & Graham

Possibly. I'd say they would be projecting them to make it as mids and to play as mids with how early they picked them all

Its all fine to project and if it comes off great but looking at their junior form/games its a long shot
Hewett has probably the best chance but i have doubts about the other 2 and both look like HBF/Wing types

I just think they will go for the best inside mid available at their pick and hopefully thats after NorF's selection
