The Collingwood game should get a huge crowd, but that’s only if the their supporters show up because bulldogs supporters typically refuse to go the mcg. There’s generally an embarrassing lack of supporters to mcg games, the first Melbourne final in eight years this year and the first game post the premiership wasn’t even enough to motivate the supporters to turn up.

We had a great amount of support at our last MCG game that was actually interesting and worth attending as a bulldogs supporter Richmond 2021)

They ****ed up our barcodes for the Hawks final, I was on 10AM and almost didn’t get a ticket as I got rejected 2-3 times.

Yeah, I was on waiting at 8.45,what a **** up that was.

“Welcome to the MCG, where the Footscray Football Club celebrate 100 years. The question tonight though, how will this impact Nick Daicos’ legacy?”*

*Nick Daicos is sidelined with a minor hamstring injury sustained in opening round and the camera spends most of the game on him sitting in the stands

Yeah, that's pretty much what I'd expect. Or a feature on past Footscray greats Terry Wight, Alan Atkinson and Allan Edwards. Featuring highlights of their early Pies careers!

Given it's a 3-way 100 year anniversary, seems the perfect opportunity for AFL to schedule the first ever 3-way clash. Dogs v Roos v Hawks.

3 sets of goals, 120 degrees apart around the ground.

6 field umpires.

Intersecting 50 metre arcs everywhere.

Winner is awarded the Jade Rawlings Cup.

No new rules, let the highly competent umpiring fraternity use their skills to apply current rules, but where each contest involves at least three opposing players. 6-6-6 will work a treat in a triangular setting.

Schedule it as round 11(a), as a standalone game, with no home team.

I've got some more ideas, like... ah, hang on, Andrew Dillon is calling me. I'll be right back...

I'd just love DOGS to play Roos in Hobart at some stage next season. Would be great to see them live for us poor people down here. 🤣

Massive step in the right direction for the club. Keep it up and push for 2 home games a year at the MCG, the home of footy the home of the grand final. Not sure why Bains referred to it as a "one off", need to push this as the norm going forward.

If you want stars to come to your club in the free agency world they want maximum exposure.

I like it, but I genuinely think this is a one off. Between Ballarat and Marvel, playing two home games at the MCG would be super unlikely. And I believe that there is still a contract in place to play a certain amount of games at Marvel, so if we shifted two home games to the MCG, that'd mean two shifted from the MCG to Marvel, which I just can't see happening.

Why do we want home games at the MCG? I'd argue we should be pushing for more than the usual 2 away games there (particularly if theyre forcing us to play home finals there), but not giving up home games for it. We already have 2 home grounds and will only end up hosting MCG tenants if we do get home games there.

The only Victorian club that has any sort of genuine home ground is Geelong and even then they still want a a bit each with plenty of home games in Melbourne.

With the AFL owning Marvel and clubs like Collingwood playing home games there in recent seasons, I think we'll see Melbourne clubs having something of a 'home ground' but they will all end up playing home games split between Marvel and the MCG to some degree.

I don't really think there is any great disadvantage playing a home game at the MCG against a club that predominately plays home games at that ground and vice versa for Marvel.

Well if your asking me, I would ditch Ballarat in a heart beat for 2 blockbusters against either of (Pies, Dons, Blues or due to last year final hawks for example). Need to think bigger, playing on the G clearly counts. My ideal would be a total of 4 or 5 games at the G each year (2 being home, plus 9 home at marvel).

What a surprise , Cats in Geelong … genuinely can’t remember when we had them at home last.
We played Geelong five times between 1998 and 2003 in Geelong and beat them all five times. We then lost to them at Geelong 15 straight times. We have then beaten them twice in a row so perhaps we replicate what we did between 98 to 03 and beat them at their shit hole fives times in a row.
