So the showdown is the only night game we have at Adelaide Oval in the first 15 rounds?? What the actual ****?
+ Sunday night Gather Round v Hawks.

The worst result would have been a soft draw that sees Ken get another 2 years in August, before being bundled out in finals.

He can't handle the heat and finally doesn't have a contract to fall back on. He's not moving to the bench, swapping to Pepsi Max and going 13-0 again.

Actually in shock at just how bad this is. One night game between Thurs, Fri and Sat and it’s a showdown. One.
Meanwhile...

HAWTHORN will be the primetime king of 2025, following its whirlwind rise up the ladder last season, with the Hawks scheduled to play seven Thursday or Friday night games in the opening 16 rounds.

we clearly won't be a 'blockbuster' club next year, perhaps not even top 10 in terms of interest and narratives. we've had our time in the sun (yes, that's how the league sees this whole Hinkley era) and it's all going to come crashing down.

The lack of prime time sucks from a commercial sense but being a country member with a young family the Saturday twilight games make things so much more doable for me, and i've actually always loved that timeslot even when i was young and single.

It does make your eyes roll when we get punished commercially despite making a prelim but then a side like Essendon gets rewarded with prime time after yet another dogshit season from them. I kind of get it with Hawthorn, but i can also see there bubble bursting but Essendon getting rewarding with prime time year in year out is just BS.

The double ups are challenging but the 3 sides that have troubled us the most in the last couple seasons have probably been Collingwood, Brisbane and GWS so we avoid playing them twice at least.

Any danger of playing Collingwood at home though? Was it because the 1 time we have in the last 8 seasons was such a disaster? Top v 2nd, less than a goal in it and full house?

I wouldn't mind a double up against Collingwood, they seem to usually dodge playing us at home weren't the last matches they've played us here 2023 and 2017?

Just about as hard a draw competitively as you could get. You want double ups against the hopeless teams (West Coast, St.Kilda, Richmond and North). We got none. Out of the next 4 lowest teams (Adelaide, Melbourne, Essendon and Gold Coast) only Adelaide a double up.

Of those 8 teams you want to play as many as you can away- only Essendon and Adelaide. That means all the rest of our away games are tough and against expected top 10 teams. That’s as hard as it gets.

Not a single Friday night game. One game only at the MCG and that’s in March. Top 4 teams should get a minimum of 3 MCG games per year if they insist on playing the GF there every year.
Maybe the AFL wants Ken sacked :).

The other thing to remember is we are a much better team in day and twilight fixtures for some reason. Friday nights not so bad but for some strange reason we don't like turning up to Saturday night home games.

This league is ****ing corrupt to the core.
These clubs are the money makers have the biggest fanbases, it's why if you ever watch a channel 7 game at the mcg you'll hear brian taylor harp on about crowd attendances despite the fact it's carlton and collingwood at the MCG.... In an ideal world i'd scrap some of the victorian teams the afl does not need so many teams i'd be content with 14 sides and playing each team once per season to make it actually fair.

Double ups look tough but you don't know who will rise and who could unexpectedly dive
It wouldn't surprise if Geelong and Sydney have down years next year. As for the other double ups Ade, Freo and Carlton are just as flakey as us and have coaches I would have question marks over just like our wonderful coach.
Hawthorn well let's see how they handle the extra expectation.

I am going to have to get KAYO for the better half with all the Saturday games. She is not a big fan of crowds and the football brings out the worst in people. Even some of our own supporters need to pull their heads in at times.

I expect a few Saturday games in the floating rounds. Brisbane away might be a Saturday night game. Maybe the Crows game to. West Coast and Fremantle to allow them to fly home Sunday. I might be looking into it too deep as worst case scenario.
