What are you on about?

Id only play him when he's ready

If he is ready for wafl then he is ready for AFL

He doesn't need the run in WAFL for form like other players do, that's what my post was about
Because the step up from wafl to AFL takes a larger toll on the body? Especially in speed and running. Young hasn’t had a competitive game in a month and had already had an interrupted preseason

Not a fan of bringing back multiple players coming off injuries.

If fit Young plays against the dogs next week.

Switkowski back for the tiges game.

Darcy can get a game or two of WAFL and come back against the Dees.

Fingers crossed for the above and no more injuries. Walker out will hurt us, for all his detractors he’s a very good shut down player.
What about Fyfie?

The tigers game is probably not a bad game to bring a few players back for.

Hopefully we can have all the key players back by round 6.

Youngs coming off a hammy, it's not an ACL

If he is fine to play wafl then he is fine to play AFL

AFL is lot a quicker than WAFL.

Sometimes it nice to come back and know you only need to play 3/4 quarters the game, or can play at 75% speed.

It also lets you get some touch back.

This is Hayden Young we are talking about

It hasn't been an enormous layoff

I think if he's fit then they're gonna pick him at AFL level, as most clubs do with their stars who haven't aren't coming back from ACL's or similar

He hasn't done msin training for ages in fact barely any all preseason up to this date. Just weights and a few run throughs . I've seen him during last main training holding his hammy too.
If he is holding his hammy at training then he isn't ready for any level of football

If he is cherry ripe, he can play AFL.

If he is not quiet ready, a game in the WAFL would not hurt him.

If he is not quiet ready then you don't risk him in the WAFL...

It's a hammy, if he is ready then he is ready, if he isn't then do not play him.

Obviously bad news for Walker and feel for him but for mine I don’t see it as a major loss. Walker really has not come on as a bona fide afl player despite his potential (there’s still time of course). Does not use his speed very often, not good overhead, very poor handballs, never takes an aggressive kick. He can closely check a small forward and has good closing speed for a spoil which is important but even then he’s been getting multiple goals kicked on him in a number of games for awhile now.

I like the idea of Aish coming in for him. I also don’t buy into the Worner hate and think he could play lockdown in defnece rather than the wing HB hybrid he plays now. Worner is a no nonsense type - neat skills, decent overhead, will stick to role, very fit. He goes back with the flight as well. Pace maybe a problem but he’s not slow. We are desperate for a safe pair of hands in defence and I think he could be that. As a team we go to water under pressure and Worner strikes me as a calm character.

He has had basically zero pre-season. Went from fracture to two hammies. If they want to get him through a 50% WAFL game I think it makes sense.

I’d expect Hayden going to play some managed mins in WAFL prob something closer to what Fyfe did this week: 75-80% and then be in a position to be available for selection. That would make him available for round 5.

Fyfe - available round 4
Young - available round 5
Darcy - available round 6

Or something to that effect.

A lot depends on how they pull up after the WAFL game or games.

Separate injuries, if the hammy is healed then he is good to go

You only run him through wafl if he needs touch but this is Hayden Young we are talking about

If he isn't good to go at AFL level then don't make the mistake of playing him in the WAFL, give him the extra week

Has anyone heard are we flying home from Adelaide after gather round and then over to Melbourne, or going straight on from gather round and hubbing in Vic? That decision might have some influence on what we do with these blokes and how cautious we are
