Is Henry Smith meant to be quicker or more agile?
He’d have to be surely. He’d at least offer a bigger target forward and around the ground, and be able to compete with the taller rucks.

We’re obviously still adjusting to no Joe. Even our long down the line bail out kicks where he would take a mark or force a 50/50. McStay did that well for us too. Day hasn’t shown the capability to do that or cover enough ground to force a contest. Smith might contribute more there judging off his VFL form.

Just on what I've seen of him when he played in the Seniors he seemed to react quickly and had good hands inside but just wasn't reading where his teammates were going which would come with experience.

If he wasn't more agile than Day I'd be staggered . Whether he's up to it at the moment is the issue.

Is Oscar more agile? His agility is why I don't think he's even a resting forward at AFL level but maybe a ruck

TBH I am back to Fort. Him and Big O will destroy other ruck combinations and still bring competition to the forward structure. For mine I think Big O has more talent in both roles so he should be the resting ruck/forward.

But they have rucked together and not come close to destroying other ruck combinations and O tends to play much better as the solo ruck

The past isn't always the best measure, it's been mostly Fort playing the ruck/forward role. I believe the reverse would be better than what we have now. And would give the Big O's body a time to recover. Ruck is the most brutal role in the game for a reason.

Thought Day played better this week. While we are winning you would think he will stay in the team.

Big O and Fort are really full time Rucks to me. If Fort was a forward he would be playing you would think.

Oscar Allen would be an upgrade on Day and perhaps that is all we really need.

I think Oscar Allen will cost us far more in trade and salary cap than the amount of upgrade he offers, moneyball wise.

Seriously this is a dead end street. Day or Fort or Fort and Oscar or an underprepared Smith

We're not talking as if any of it would make much difference unless Day completely spuds it up and we need to try something else.

Who knows ,we're talking significant limitations as forwards in the modern game. Day averages less than a goal a game as a forward/ruck and Fort has kicked 18 from 38 for us playing much of that time as a ruck.

If you think you know who's better good luck.

I'd tend to go with the guy who helped us win a premiership.

We are in the window, if he is difference between another flag then giddy up. Just depends whether you think we need him or not.

Exactly, can't see value in this trade. Others are sniffing around and for what he will cost I don't think he moves the bar very far. We did just fine in the PF against Geelong with Daniher in the ruck. Don't see the risk/reward here being worth it.

Don't hobble the future to perhaps improve the present. We are here for the long haul, constant finals appearances and many more premierships this decade and beyond.

That's how dynasties are built.

I think we are going to face some stiff competition from the Hawks to lure Allen over. They’ve likely got big money spare, and clearly an opportunity to be their best forward in a young side on the rise.

Not sure if he is mates with Barrass, but that might also be a factor. Not saying we aren’t without a chance, but it won’t be a two horse race is my thinking.

Daniher is not on our list anymore. Who is going to ruck? Hipwood or a 20 year old Morris?
