Walters and Fyfe leaving aren’t going to free up much cap space, they’re on much less $ than their previous deals and rumour is half of it is AFL money for us to maintain some “stars” for AFL marketing purposes. With walters and fyfey finishing up we will have some loose change to throw around.
Laughable isn’t it. People have short memories.I like how complacent most of this board have become
One of the most damaging mids is coming out of contract who is a west Aussie and he is surplus to our needs.
And old and almost retired and often injured Fyfe who most likely won't play on
Then Johnson or Erasmus will have to step up big timeSerong Brayshaw Young
Or
Warner Serong Brayshaw Young
I know which will give us that premiership edge
Chad Warner is not a need.Laughable isn’t it. People have short memories.
People should go away and rewatch two games in particular - the one v Geelong and the one v Port Adelaide, both in our last handful of recent games.
Then tell me with a straight face we don’t need Chad Warner.
Chad Warner is not a need.
If you go and rewatch our last two games you’d see that we NEEDED Treacy, or Pearce, or Darcy.
Also zero crumbing goals in the last four weeks so actually our biggest NEED to immediately push us over the edge would be a quality small I.e Bolton or Pickett. Not an extra midfielder.
Using games where we missed our best KPP from every line and still only lost by a couple goals to top 4 teams is not a strong argument for needing a midfielder that we’d have to spend so much on
I think people are comparing your very good top four midfielders versus having a weaker overall list around the ground that can offset injury and form. Fyfe not being around just means more opportunity for one of a number of young players with potential to step up including the two you mentioned but also potentially Reid or Simpson or even Brodie.I like how complacent most of this board have become

IMHO it’s NOD who is most like Warner from those already in the team. Plays outside but can go inside and loves to burst through the middle and have a ping at the big sticks.I think people are comparing your very good top four midfielders versus having a weaker overall list around the ground that can offset injury and form. If anything, it is good balanced and experienced lists rather than lists with a small number of superstars that win premierships. To that end, I don't personally feel like Warner will give that edge.

There’s a debate taking place, and then there’s you having a convo with yourself. No one is saying what you’re saying they saying.Laughable isn’t it. People have short memories.

A lot to play out in 2025. from what we saw at the end of 2024 though a top 4 mid rotation of AB, Serong, Young and NOD with support from Johnson and Bolton rotating through just for fun looks pretty stacked to me and replacing switta’s 10 goals a year with Picketts 40 would be far more beneficial to our team balance than Warner replacing NOD.
Completely disagree with this, Sturt is a two goal a game medium forward, he easily co-exists with Kozzie (just like fritch at the Dees). In 2025, Kozzy would be playing ahead of Sturt. Is that ~500k worth of improvement? (approx 300k salary vs. 800k salary) The case seems a lot easier to make. I do like Sturt, but we're not getting crumbing goals out of Sturt, we're not getting tackles, we're not getting blistering outside pace.

Switta or Freddy are the ones under the microscope if Pickett arrived.
It's actually too many goal kickers IMO. I'd rather Switta in over Sturt if we had Pickett. It might be just like Fritsch, but the Dee's dont also have Treacy, Amiss and BoltonCompletely disagree with this, Sturt is a two goal a game medium forward, he easily co-exists with Kozzie (just like fritch at the Dees).

I don't think he replaces Sturt but your point is well made. Our list is in solid shape at the moment, compared to any other time in our club history. We have to start looking at these star players we're targeting not as a replacement for some local WAFL guy the WAFC generously rustled up for us, but as a replacement for solid but not superstar talent we already have on our list.
Viewed like that, Warner is an improvement on the guy we'd otherwise be playing in our 2025 midfield: Neil Erasmus. Now, obviously, Warner is better than Erasmus. Is he ~1 mil dollars worth of improvement? (approx 500k salary vs. 1.5 mil) Well........... our midfield is already solid, we probably want the last man in to be more of a defensively minded, self-sacrificial player, etc. etc. Goal-kicking midfielders are great but you can only support so many outside-minded offensive players at one center bounce, and Young seemed to really relish the more offensive role we handed him towards the end of the season.
