It's fantastic , WTF is wrong with it , Better a week of this than no footy

- makes the ladder uneven and all the odd byes

- only get to see 8 teams in the first week

- shorter pre season

- have round 1 as the second round makes no sense

After a long summer just start the ****en season properly.

Look at it , all teams have a bye by round 5 , it promotes the game up North , not deep South !
You don't like it that's fine , but others love it

Bet you most fans hate it, especially the ones who support the ten teams not playing

I love the idea of starting the comp a week earlier than traditionally BUT I would prefer running two bye blocks during the season instead of "opening round".
Group 1 7 b 8 b 8 Six teams
Group 2 8 b 8 b 7 Six teams
Group 3 6 b 9 b 8 Six teams
So much better for the players.

It's not about those 10 teams fans though... so who cares what they think? Why does their opinion matter?

An extra week of footy is good for footy. More footy means more exposure which means more money.

This , what people like him don't realise is that if opening round doesn't happen there is NO footy at all .

Well there can be just play round 1 and have every team play.

Why start the season with a whimper.

These aren't extra games , they are taken from other rounds.

Well it is about all football fans in general though. Otherwise that's the same reason to keep the grand final at the mcg etc , because **** the 8 interstate sides fans 🤣.

More money and exposure is great, but just my personal view is that it dilutes the opening of the year and makes it all muddled.

Maybe I am in the minority then, but it was just a lousy start imo

Not a bad team to catch opening round. Hopefully we get them before they click into gear after the break.

Lose and I'd be a little concerned about what's to come.

Hawthorn will be up there next season and would have had a few weeks extra to train compared to us.

A big issue we had this season was I think we may of "peaked" too early.

Wouldn't surprise me if we start a bit slower next year and ease into the season (remember Brisbane lost their first 3 games this season).

A slow start concerns me given how 2024 ended. I was hoping we'd have a soft draw to open the season to bank some wins early and gain some confidence.

My thought process behind that is that teams who win early generally set themselves up for a good season. We could use some early wins and hopefully the goal of redemption drives the group to deliver on field.
