Don’t they normally sign something saying they can’t play anymore?
Think this happened to Daniel Stewart from Port (mate was high school friends with him).
Happened to Dane Swan when he first required. He was playing games for his junior club and the AFLs insurance company wanted there money back im pretty sure.

Interesting? Boronia source was saying they had him a few weeks ago and they are usually pretty good.
One of Liam’s groomsman (possible best man) was Jayden Cass of south Croydon

Would he actually qualify as a 1 point player anywhere? He only started in u15s so probly played 20 games of efl juniors.

Was offered a job opportunity from a sponsor🤔. Another way of getting around the salary cap. Was on big coin at Sorrento this year.

Haha. Why would they feel the need to mention that?

Maybe he’s doing a 3hr shift at the pub every week for $5000.

He’s been at Montmorency and Sorrento, two of the biggest mercenary clubs in Vic, so clearly he responds to money and doesn’t come cheap.

The Clubs throw the money at him so one can't blame him for taking it. Maybe Vermont has decided to exploit the salary cap loopholes the other clubs are using. I can't blame them either.

Club gets a player who will probably be gone again next year and takes a huge amount out. Other players quite possibly get the shits.

Player gets a (relative) stack of money, has probably played for at least half a dozen clubs by the end of his career, not appreciated or home at any of them.

It’s a way to go about for both parties. It’s up to them I guess, not sure it’s the smartest approach.

Even for a club like Vermont, there is always somebody who will pay more next year, as they found when he left last time.

Why did they feel the need to mention it at all? Who gives a shit what his employment situation is? Almost like they’re overcompensating in their message…
Vermont wants everything to be seen as above board. I was told if they got busted breaching the salary cap one of the ramifications would be losing their gaming licence. It's all about perception.

There’s other anti-pokies councils who would tell them to sell it or kick them off their ground.

It’s only a matter of time, think they’d be best off getting out while the going is good.
