They always release some of the prices a few days before it opens.

Every team is starting with minimum 4-6 top premiums as Captain options: If 3 are rucks it doesn’t effect your planning all that much.

Just means at full premium Flex is more likely to count then F6 but that was always going to happen
Yeah, it's a fair point, hard to argue, to be honest 👍
Will be interesting to see the different way folks go with it, cluier cats than us (well, me, at least) will run the numbers on different options and it will be interesting to see which ways they go with it.
Viewed that way, not necessarily a bad development.

Well that all depends on how many F6’s you’re running.

Last season I had 3.

Going to try a new strategy next season and use about 85-90% of the cap. Ill go hard on rookies and mid-pricers and then boost each week from round 3 or 4 to see if i can get full premo super quickly. Will be a slow start but hopefully can make ground from round 9ish as i should get to a complete team a couple rounds earlier than the masses. I dont expect ill do well with this strategy....but its worth trying. If i can get all the best rookies and mid-pricers in by round 3, i should be able to not fall too far behind the pack and then can catch up when i complete my team early

I think it’ll be harder to run down teams that start well due to sheer volume of trades, but you’ve gotta make your own fun with this godforsaken game.

When I think about starting sides in practice it’s just adding 1 extra rookie to your starting squad.

If an average rookie score is 60 a good score is 80 and a bad score say 40. Having the worst score drop out is probably worth +20 points the first 10 rounds until full premium. So in practice that’s about 200 points and not much different. In the grand scheme of things.

But things don’t always go to plan and a sub score or early injury can put a team down 50-100 points. All this does to me is mitigate that.

Think that’s really important when lockout is Thursday and Sunday teams won’t be named for days. If this saves people 2 donuts in 10 rounds that’s any potential point gain balanced out.

once we hit full premo in an ideal world it means your flex (Mid or Ruck) should average say 105 vs F6 typically 90 so will inflate teams values by 15 x12 so likely about 180 points.

So overall it seems like this will mostly be a safety net with about a 500point impact raising the floor across all teams.

Likely the best way to maximise it will be to have a high variance F6 premo who can score above that 110 average with enough frequency that you can turn that spot into a 120-130 average. That could be an extra 100-200 point advantage over your average coach/outcome.

It’s a nice safetynet more then anything else but don’t think it will really stop top teams from getting ahead if they have a fast start

Always good fun to try something different. My best finish was a year I only started three mid premo’s and loading up on the mid rookies. I think it was the year GWS came in.

Obviously hard to know structures until prices but for me my plan is to have 20 expensive rookies/midprice or better players in my starting group.

Be able to correct/upgrade early and hopefully have a really good 18 + 5 rookies

Bank cash early and try and boost/upgrade into being almost full premo round 6/7 down about 15 trades.

At that point it’s 20 trades to survive 18 rounds.

Burn a few through the byes

Ah yes, I remember when I made this.

It was a sultry night in September 2020…

Well back when I was in 'Nam.... I saw some things, man.... and some stuff!

Baz Smith a 10% discount after missing an entire season.
They continue to just pick and choose the discounts, what a shame.

Titch only got a 10% discount the year after he broke his leg too. The inconsistency is annoying, but everyone is going to have him anyway.

Yeah, but then last year ZWilliams got like a 40% discount for no apparent reason.
I just want it to make sense.

Elijah Hewett was $254k this year, didn't play and looks to be rookie priced for 2025 🙃

Wish they would make it standard for all players.

Laird training with the defenders.

Could it be? Could we see a renaissance of sorts?

Maybe, although it's more interesting in that there is space for another midfielder. Makes me more interested in Peatling and Draper.

Of course he might just be getting out of the way for the glorious return of Mr Ballistic Matt Crouch.
