So with the flex, you want a cheap player that will score high? :drunk:
My take is put a player there you would normally have on field. Whether a rookie, midpricer, or premo it doesn't really matter as long as you are confident they will be a better scorer than the rookies you have on the bench.

A player with DPP allows more flexibility, but isn't essential.

I know this comment is bound for disaster, but the forward line seems more straight forward this year. I have always struggled in the forwards department but was able to select them without much contemplation.
Agreed, injury permitting it's simple.

This is putting Flynn in the Flex spot over a premium ruck, I think I will just treat the Flex as a third on field ruck. Getting 3 ruck scores in at the expense of a fwd or def is probably the most optimal use of it. Some people say a M9 but you can always get the 24th premo and loop at M8/M9.

Someone mentioned Bailey Dale but I think he has a bad bye for this setup, if Daniel becomes a keeper then I will have 7 out in Rd12.

OK with it, need to field basically 3 base price rookies and am a bit light in defense.

Credit where credits due, the 3 ruck idea wasn’t mine. It was another poster (who I’m forgetting- give this post a shout and I’ll edit you in)

The more I think about it the more it makes sense. People are thinking about the flex like it’s some special specific role. But really all it does is allow you to play 9 premo mids of 3 rucks depending on who happens to be scoring higher. (Since we know it won’t be F6)

To make a best 22 we don’t need an F6 anymore. That’s the new reality.

If you start with 7 premo defenders or 9 mids or 3 rucks all of their scores will just count from the get go.

At the start it doesn’t really matter because our worst players will be rookies and it’s best 18 early so in practice we’ve got 5 flex spots

It’s just about starting with 10-14 value premiums who you hope are in the top 20ish scorers by seasons end, with 3/4 captain options. wherever you put them. Doesn’t really matter what position they play.

The strongest argument for starting 3 premium rucks is that last year R3 (Marshall) was a top15 guy in terms of average and overall points and there’s a few rucks now that can match the top mids for points.

They might not be value but Captain options normally aren’t and the cover is a nice byproduct. With 3 elite rucks you’re likely going to have at least one good matchup most weeks till you can start to load up your midfield
Thinking about it, especially this part nails it:

"To make a best 22 we don’t need an F6 anymore. That’s the new reality."

Boils it down to a straightforward way of looking at it, cuts straight to the heart of it

A Flynn type has some appeal for me as it stands, but can't fault the topliner M9 / R3 on-field logic 👍

This. Is. Democracy. Manifest.
You always were a man of impeccable taste and discerning character, alongside formidable prowess in the martial arts.
I should have expected nothing less.
Now, my only problem is figuring out how to get myself out of this headlock.
