Just got home from an absolutely fantastic morning with the QLD supporters club.

Massive shoutout to Jade from the footy club who went above and beyond to ensure that despite me being in a wheelchair following major surgery recently (I can currently walk but very limited on my feet at the moment) was able to access the ground to meet the players as the Southport club itself has very limited disability access out onto the ground.

I managed to meet quite a few of the players in the end, got a few photos and they were absolutely fantastic young men.

Credit to the club and the supporters club for making this happen.

Under Scott, we did have competitive simulation training sessions against Geelong with umpires present. It was an interesting idea but it sounds like all involved thought it was pretty awkward. Anything that might help the team would be worth looking into though.
Good shout.
I actually forgot this happened.

So knowing something like this would never get off the ground, it’s why I mentioned the summer series the NBA holds in Vegas.
That’s designed for kids and rookies to play in whereas we’d love for ours to be full strength.

If you monetised something like that in the AFL - I don’t know maybe clubs would get into it.
It’s all a left field discussion.

Hope everything is okay Hatchy1992, major surgery is never great to hear no matter what, very good post! 😦

The stuff around McDonald is funny to me.

If he’s fit he’s going to play round 1.

As a club we tend not to shit on blokes who really put in to the club.

While I personally don’t see McDonald or Jy as the optimal choices to remain captains I do not see the club just blanket dropping them either.

There is the reality of what the club does and then there’s the head narrative that some posters make up about how the club will act.

Big old grain of salt but there is often a big difference between some of the outrage on here and the thoughts within the club.
Lmac gets shat on even more these days because he is co-captain. Is it his fault there are no better options to captain the club atm? Jy is in the same boat.

Lmac bleeds blue and white and gives it his all on the track and on weekends. A lot of people carry on, wanting him out of the team. He might not be in our best 12 players but he is AFL capable.

People need to remind themselves that Shane Clayton is a NM premiership player (if they are old enough).

The whole 23 won’t be superstars. He is a B&F winner ffs. I think people need to lay off a little.

Thanks mate. Appreciate it. Everything is ok thanks. Surgery was a big success. Just need to give my foot time to heal but at least i'm up and about on my feet walking properly for the first time in a few years. Fine line between the two!

When off field criteria starts seeping into on field selection, you get what we’ve had.
I won't be convinced that we've turned the corner until our current captains are replaced. We need someone who leads with on-field actions.

Great to see whitlock putting on size.
The fact we've had him up against larkey so early has me thinking he'll be next up if there's an injury.
Clubs obviously put their time into him and know what he can do.

Other teams play their young KPPs from their first year - thinking the Kings for example. I am not sure why we shouldn’t be given him games in 2025 if he is seen as capable.

This is classic BF. People want players to be thrown out or humiliated according their whims on performance or perceived attitude but expect unlimited loyalty when contracts come around.
