Goad was fresh out of SANFL U18’s. Pink was a legit SANFL senior footballer. To be expected.
Goad would never have had to use his body before. His reach would have been enough against other kids. In the first couple of training sessions last year I was surprised how nimble he was below his knees. I've got faith that this was a pick that was correct. He will be a good player for us.

Unleashed on a wing, he will be doing those 60 metre run then kicks we saw against the suns.

But expect running goals too. I can’t think of the last player who had his combo of fearless running, genuine explosiveness, smarts and lethal kicking over 40…Boomer maybe?
He'll be our best midfielder, no way he gets stuck on a wing.

Nice me too! Might have been the Wednesday after the big dance from rough memory,,,,,a few mates and I had lunch at the club and waiting for one of the players to rock up for photos,,,,,remember Schwatter arriving in an old pair of track pants and t shirt, clearly a bit worse for wear but seemed to genuinely enjoy holding the cup and posing for photos with all the fans, like it belonged to all of us.

This was at Luna Park in October 96 or thereabouts

If any other team lost 21 on the trot within a single season, in which they were not were the clear worst team, and turfed a key defender for a r1 compo pick, and wound up with the top two picks, we'd label them pathetic. And rightly. But when it's us, oh what a missed opportunity. Some of you need your heads examined. Personally I'm glad that we won that game and didn't blemish the record of so many of our loyal blokes from the 16-18 drafts even further. I do believe it was Eddie Ford's first win too. In his third year on the list. There's a bit of history for you.

**** off with all your remorseful shit. Go and buy a West Coast scarf if you're that enamoured with Harley

Time for a spell again mate.

Mate absolutely. Boomer / Wells like (although Wells always struggled with the confidence / ego). Player like Boomer was so dangerous because he hurt you delivering the ball, running the ball, great agility, great disposal and if you sat off him to squeeze the possession he'd just ping the goal from 50m anyway and slot it.

This guy will destroy teams.

Zoomba may have come on a little strong, but why continue to worry about something that happened a year ago let’s back the guys we did draft and stop crying over what didn’t happen
People trying to justify that meaningless win are kidding themselves. The only way it would have meaning is if we never won another game again. And believing we would have got a different compo pick is a fanciful coping mechanism.

But agree with the above. Move on and back OUR players in. I’m excited to see how good Kerch and Duurs become. Huge talents.

It kind of ruins the whole "lets move on" thing, when you open with a statement that insinuates the people who disagree with you are wildly wrong and ignorant, and then close off by trying to close the discussion.

After that Hobart game I’m off the Reid bandwagon; he’s quickly morphing into Figjam Mk 2 and those types I can’t cope with
Kerch played better than Reid that day.

Had something like 35 touches to 10. And Reid's kicking was shocking.

Don't really care for futures that did not and will now never manifest. I do care that McKercher is an absolute weapon of a player with an insane workrate, as well as a good kid who loves the club. I'm backing in Duursma to flourish next year too, he certainly has the talent.

I have generally been turned off by his FIGJAM antics this past year, but I also feel sorry for him considering that he's a (seemingly alright) kid who now and always will be forced to have so much attention and expectation forced upon him by such a stupidly merciless media apparatus. I'm low-key grateful that McKercher is flying under the radar a bit and focusing on his footy and his bonds at the club.

Idk if he was trying extra hard against us but that day there appeared to be a level of spite I had not seen

We could be in for a decade of Jacko - Eagles type rivalry

Never deliberately lose. **** that.

Learn from the Philadelphia 76ers. They celebrated deliberately losing and their culture has been ruined ever since. Constantly choking and underperforming and having collapses under pressure.

You don't let that attitude grow in your club.

I love that we kicked the shit out of the Suns when the pencil sharpeners wanted us to deliberately lose. And I love that we traded away our future draft pick this year, rather than worry about being bad next year.

I feel there are some parallels between Colby and Finn Callaghan. Both pick 2's, both overshadowed by Reid and JHF respectively, and as a result have gone a bit under the radar compared to their pick 1 counterparts both in the media and on field.

They both could (imo) end up having as good if not better careers than Reid/JHF. Obviously time will tell, but for now I'm very happy we have Colby and think he could be our most consistently damaging midfielder in the not too distant future (and that's saying something with LDU, Wardlaw and Sheezel in there too).

Horne Francis is a 10 fold better player than Callaghan.
