It was day one for the main group. Small shit maybe. I thought their basic plyometric drills in warm up were a little more sophisticated than I recall. They def didn’t do as much running as I recall. Let’s see if that changes. I quite like that. Not all the group need to get fitter. Many need more power and strength. So I’d be happy to hear that stuff is being done individually and away from the main group session.

Many stayed on for an extra skills session after training which was interesting. Don’t recall seeing that before.
We have at least 6 guys that would win the 2km time trial at * or the Pies and probably a couple of others (like the Dogs ). We can certainly sacrifice some endurance running for power across our list

It’s an interesting one. I am probably hugely incorrect on the following. No doubt someone will correct me.

But seeing that speed wasn’t a quality on our list, I feel like we went towards endurance (e.g. Acres and O Hollands) so that we could start to grind out games when the pace went out of them.

But other sides had more pace on their flanks, and just rotated them through the middle. It meant the pace never went out of games, and so our endurance didn’t get a chance to come to the fore.

Power and strength probably has a better capacity for keeping us in the game in those stages where pace is at a premium. But I guess we’ll see.

I reckon a lot of emphasis on elite endurance is about being able to repeatedly get to contests all up and down the ground. For sure we need elite speed and power. But they are 2 valid needs, power runners and endurance and having 6-8 guys that are endurance beasts is a major asset to the team as they will run teams into the ground, double/triple team, make links.

Something about Moir reminds me of Fev. Not sure what though.Kicking goals like it's 1999?
There’s a lot of Fev to him, he’s mercurial (not just that goal against WCE, he did freaky stuff as a junior)

It’s also the speed, the straight line ferocity lead up at the ball carrier, the strong hands with a defender on his hammer and the huge boot he has
