Training 2025 Pre-Season

Seems likely we will hear about a mature ruck training with us early in the new year for a SSP spot, hard to see Strachan not getting moved to the LTI within a month or two. Only other scenario is that Turray starts training full time as a ruck.
Depends.

If he's out for 4 months there's no chance he goes on the LTI.

If it works out that he's going to be longer then sure

Obviously still early with the timeframe and it can definitely blowout with the type of injury he's sustained. Doubt we know a lot more until Jan/Feb.

Great regulation tackle
NSW bread, Rugby in the blood ......Peatling went straight for the hips

Most players aim at the chest, and wonder why the tackle slips up over the shoulders

I wonder how closely the AFL monitor the guys on the LTI list? Can you leave someone on there even if they are ready to play again?

Seems like a great opportunity to put Strachan on there and just leave him there for the entire season. Basically make the call to delist him now by moving him off the main list and bring in a 23-24 year old ruck from a state league that can be our back up to ROB.

Strachan sidelined for 4 months

Honestly will it make a difference?

We should use this as an opportunity to put him on long term injury list & take another ruckman in the MSD.

Still won't be put on the LTI
We may as well use this as an opportunity to put him on the LTI, even if we need a doctor to be very conservative about his possible return.

We cant put Stachan on the LTI list yet but he's done. Ive thought for a while he was going to retire at the end of this year anyway so I don't think we will see much more of him.

The Borlase spot should of gone to a Himmelberg type who could of also covered the ruck if required.

Give Harry Boyd a quiet phone call you reckon ??
Doubt we'd interest him now the Saints have given him the opportunity....they have a current list spot, we don't.

And he's from Shepparton so closer to his family as well.

Only way he's an option is if the Saints pass on him ans Strachan goes on the LTI which seems unlikely at this point.

Ever since they nailed spriggs to the bottom of leather sole boots you are taught to go for the hips

And I do know better
I'll tell you a story .....I've been on a few paintball skirmishes with various entities ......participants in everyone of them are told, "do not aim at the head, aim at the body"

1. it's a bigger surface area to hit .....2. those thing hurt if hit in the neck, or ears (the unprotected areas)

Guess what, in panic mode, every shot was to the head (these were conducted in pitch black sandhills after midnight)

Players maybe taught to go for the hips, but there's so many head high tackles, and shrugged tackles ....for anyone to believe players bend their knees to get lower .....in fact, most stand more upright to tackle

In your day, they didn't know what a tackle was 🤣

Ourfooty experts attended 12 pre-season sessions from across the AFL this week, and here are the players that stood out on track.

ADELAIDE

Sid Draper

Wearing bright pink boots during the match simulation, Draper was in the stronger side and kicked an impressive goal early. He then produced a tremendous chase-down tackle to wrap up Sam Berry, which got his teammates excited for the youngster.

Isaac Cumming

If the Crows can keep him fit then Cumming could have a big impact on their ball movement. While conditions weren’t great at West Lakes on Monday – hot and windy – Cumming was still clean with his ball movement and looks like he can be a weapon down back for the Crows.

Dan Curtin

Continued to be used as a forward and continued to show some impressive signs. The most impressive on Monday might have been when he gave it to Keane as things got heated. On the surface Curtin does seem somewhat reserved so the Crows would be thrilled to see some fire in the West Australian’s belly.

Oscar Ryan

There aren’t too many players on the Crows list who are yet to play an AFL game. Draper’s first should come soon but don’t be surprised if Ryan isn’t too far behind him. Nicks said Ryan reminded him of the great Gavin Wanganeen. The running defender has returned in good shape and impressed with his tank and kicking on Monday.
