also said Rankine could end up as best player in the competition by the end of the year (similar to his 'top 3' from mid last year). Love Izak but still think most of us would take JHF in a straight swap if we could. JHF = Buckley/Dangerfield (top 3 player in competition for best part of a decade IMO)

Gotta say he has pretty well nailed alot of this top 8 - except no Sydney!!

I expect Power and Dogs to be definitely out. Last team to miss either Cats or possibly Blues. Blues have so much talent but injuries are a concern and still think they will probably make it.

Freo, Crows and I reckon GC to come in. Pies and Dees to miss

Top 4

Fremantle
GWS
Hawthorn
Geelong

The next 4

Brisbane
Collingwood
Adelaide
Gold Coast/Melbourne

“I have left out Port Adelaide, Carlton and the Dogs given their injury woes.”
Ports injury woes ?? Interesting.

Esava - only reason they kept playing him was his overinflated contract
Marshall - Borderline best 23
BZT - Decent defender, nothing more.

sorry to clarify I think Power miss as they arent up to it and have a harder draw. Not me commenting on Powers injuries - that was Kingy which agree is a litte OTT

Yeah I heard him say it.... very odd thing to say.
when they already have a weakness in that part of the ground - Esava barely up to it, BZT winning the reverse Coleman the year before they got him, and then get multiple injuries in that already weakened area thats possibly the real issue

Playing Bergman (great small/mid player) but at 189 cm cant be playing on opps key forwards like he was the other night

Putting either Luko or Finlayson back there will see them majorly exposed - they are just far too soft.

Thats what i love now - how soft many of the Power players aer. The guys above, Captain Courageous, Burgoyne and others. Rioli taken over from Morefriees for ducking his head

The uncertainty on Sydney is a new coach & losing finals badly & mental impact. You would think there should be continuity with senior assistant taking over, but just don't know.

I also have Pies making the finals & Carlton dropping out with their injury woes.

I don't have Dees making it, but they are in the mix.

I had your same top 7 in a different order & Port, but not convinced with their squad.

Geez, someone like Butts would be very handy in the Port backline!

quite confident we would get 20-25 for Butts but do we really want to lose him for that market value? Currently KPP, esp KPD, is a real strength. Not many areas we are short now - great list build

A better ruckman replacing ROB
A CC type small forward (even then try fitting them all in?)
and assuming Curtin doesnt make it as a mid - its a long shot in my view - then a Callghan/Phiippou type player completes our whole squad

I'm not saying get rid of Butts as expect he will play plenty of games this year & always need decent depth.

any list priorities for you Kane besides replacing ROB
I'll let the year play out as we don't know how some of our younger players may develop.

Would love a better ruckman though.

None of them that we currently have are anywhere near AA calibre
Michalanney, Hinge, Cumming are capable of being AA. They are all quality with upside.

Laird is an ex-AA defender returning there.

I really like the quality of our defence.
