Maybe I've got this wrong but I've never thought of Curtin as gangly. He's tall but he's evenly built. I always thought gangly meant players like Gollant who are tall and unusually skinny.

Everybody watching the bigscreen nekminnit a fly lands on Nicks headOne soccer club in England has an AI camera set up to live streams their matches
In one game the camera kept mistaking the bald referee's head for the ball and there was just footage of him for the whole game
That's why we can't do video review work at our training sessions
Hr played the equivalent of two games deeper in defense to work on his one-on-one defensive positioning, which had shown itself to be an issue. No he wasn't
We were developing him as the deepest tall defender playing on the opposition's stay at home key forwards until there was a public outcry
Then we moved him to HBF and later midfield/forward
Young players need stability while they find their feet and we didn't provide that whatsoever. Seemingly we had a new plan for him every 5 minutes. Pretty dismal effort from our coaching team overall. He showed a few good signs in spite of them, not because of them.
I'm hoping this Brisbane guy has a clue. I suspect he has.

Part of developing as a young player is working on the lesser areas of your game.
Stability is fine, but it's not all rote learning of a single role. It's developing the different areas that need development.

He's underwhelming after a handful of games, well I never.Go see Scorpus Fyfe post. He's either a mid or we again wasted a top 10 pick because he's underwhelming as a kpd.
Curtin wasn't drafted as a mid. He was the All Australian CHB. Which was a little misleading, as he was the best playmaking defender in his draft year, not a traditional key defender. He occasionally got stints on the ball. Before his draft year, he played a fair bit as a medium forward (before his 12cm growth spurt).Except these are talls. We drafted Curtin to be a mid, right?
You know whyAbsolute lies
Why do you bother with this rubbish, honestly?
Curtin played full back because he was the tallest player available
The week after, Butts returned from injury via the SANFL and Curtin shifted up field. A coincidence of course.
Magically he'd solved the need to work on his defensive issues deep in defence that very week.
There is no planning or thought or development. We react to what's immediately in front of us every single week.

What earlier AFL games? He got more splinters than touchesYou saw that in the earlier AFL games he played.
Maybe that's why our development has dropped off so much of late?
Except these are talls. We drafted Curtin to be a mid, right?
I think it's much safer to say we drafted Curtin because we thought he was uber-talented, and we'll work out the position later in the piece.
Isn’t he playing test cricket for IndiaHe can play anywhere, that was part of the problem. Also had an injury interrupted pre season.
He's a 197cm GANGLY kid, he did just fine

Good grief. Curtin played full back until Butts came back mentioned. He got absolutely monstered by Liam McBean and I think it was that tall Sturt player. He was nowhere near ready. He played a little better as a HBF. He moved into the middle late and had a reasonable game or two. IMO he's not a mid. He may make a FWD. due to his height. I still think he's a tweener. I personally would trade him if someone came calling.Hr played the equivalent of two games deeper in defense to work on his one-on-one defensive positioning, which had shown itself to be an issue.

Agree. Rory really needs a decent pre-season after his performance, and that includes a better relationship with the kids.Excellent to see..somebody has obviously given him the message.
