Have not seen Young in many teams.

Another preseason training as a mid and I expect him to go to another level. I am hoping that his TOG will increase further.

Elite left foot leg and loves a tackle and has shown that he can kick goals.
$550k is a bit much I reckon. What do you think he'll average? I can see most of Rozee, Day, Parish, Oliver, Cerra and Ashcroft all out-performing him for cheaper.

Training report said he was rotating between fwd and mid.

Just saw this, also

Still building up to match fitness.

Probably an easy pass, for now.

The only ones out of the players you mention that I would seriously consider is Day and Ashcroft

Parish and Cerra are far too injury prone. Not going anywhere near Piggy. Have been burnt too many times and he will fall off the wagon at some stage.

Rozee will play far more time up forward this season.

I can see Young getting to a 110 average with an improvement of his TOG. Freo will finish top 4 this year.

Why though? He’s a silky mid.

Who will take his mid minutes?

I find your insights align with my own, however i just added Oliver due to overwhelming peer pressure on here and on youtube.

Now thinking i should change back! I do think Melbourne are a disaster waiting to happen. Big Max barely holding the place together imo.

Any not so obvious players in the 400k range you are keen on?

To be completely honest with you, I have not even looked at Supercoach for 2025. I would have no idea what the prices are for players at this stage apart from reading the thoughts of people within this forum.

Butters and JHF are the kings of the Port midfield now. Don't get me wrong as Rozee will still play more large minutes in the midfield but there will be a more even spread with other players rotating through there. It was a tough year for Rozee last year being handed the captaincy, battling injuries and becoming a father as well.

I am expecting Port to fall down the ladder this year. The toll of the last few years will catch up to them plus they have a brutal draw.

Parish is one of those players that the fanbase hate, but he's one of the first picked every week by the coaches.

If he gets through the preseason unscathed, I'm locking him in. He could easily start the year of strongly, go bang, bang, bang and be $650k in couple of months.
Yeah, when he gives 100% effort, he goes alright.

I suppose if you're picking him you gotta have some faith that his body will hold up. He's still a young fella at 27.5 yo.

Rd4 is too early to trade him out. Rd16 might be too late. But if he's played every match until rd16, then something must be going right.

But history says he'll cop a soft tissue injury at some point, so let's say Parish is $650k in rd9 and he's just scored 80 pts and copped a corkie or a niggle, and Daicos is $550k after a slow start, has bottomed out and scored back to back 130s, you have to consider that trade for a profit of $100k. It's a difficult trade to make, but those are the sort of power moves that propel teams.

Just he's too cheap to ignore for me. History says he's a 108-114 average player, I'll pay $480k for that. The flipside is that history says he'll cop an injury, but that's why we have a heap of trades and trade boosts and now flex.
Yep, just gotta hope he makes enough cash before getting injured and he'll be a good pick.

Thought I'd try an iteration that rolls a bit deeper in the mids and doesn't have any more than a few premos per bye. 84k itb.
Serong too expensive for how he played the back half of the season with his new role.
Ashcroft might not right away but if he does how long will he stay?
Darcy is not fit. I think he might take a few weeks in the season to start pulling good numbers or he might just breakdown once more. Too risky.
SDK is a tall stuggling to find a role. Doubtful he'll move anywhere at that price.
Mills is too much of a injury risk.
Coleman unlikely to start first round of the season.
Phillipou make 100k or 200k. Problem is he's only gotten 100+ twice last season.
Lynch too much injury risk there.

Thank you for your considered and exhaustive feedback.

My thoughts:

Serong seemed to go ok in the last half a dozen games?

Ashcroft, like all my rookies, are placeholders pending preseason games and selection.

Darcy appears considerably fitter than recent years.

SDK selection dependent on getting ruck duties.

Mills only needs to have several games on-ball to make 150k.

I'm happy to replace SDK, Mills and Coleman with Rivers or Short if preseason signs swing that way.

Pou selection dependent on serious midfield time in the preseason games. Happy to replace him or Parker with Bolton or Baker.

Agree on your doubts re Lynch, but he is so damn cheap that so long as he survives like 5 or 6 games he's a winner.

Serong's best score was 140 after his role change. Before the bye his best was 170. I think his new role may limit his scoring potential. I expect he'll be 115 avg at best. Look to him as a upgrade not a starter as he is priced currently too high. Go for Brayshaw instead imo.

Its an interesting idea. Thanks.

Last two years Brayshaw has started slow, finished strong. Looks more like an upgrade target also.

Serong, Brayshaw, Young, hard to know which is the right one.

You know it’s SuperCoach pre season when you start season Brayshaw in teams and expect him to do something different. Love the bloke but he gets hyped of going bigger every year then proceeds to put up the same numbers with similar inconsistency. Whats different now?

Latest version.

Perryman a PS watch cant afford anyone better for now. If playing mid like PS reports may take the gamble.

Also doesnt seem like El Hawli from Ess will feature R1, I moved rookies around and added Davidson forward to address this.

All indicative for now on rookie front of course.

When serong had a role change Brayshaw started pulling massive numbers.
