Nah. Not buying it.
Charlie back next week which is extremely important for our structure and instills more confidence in his mates out there with him, plus TDK at full tilt, which these Hawthorn players have had the luxury of avoiding for the past 2 seasons, clean up the disposal efficiency from 65% and we're beating this mob.
Those that want to gush over them like the rest of the AFL community, including umpires and commentators, go right ahead.

They'll trounce us by 100+.

Charlie does not dictate the lacklustre performance of the repeat offenders.
We have some very serious freeloaders masquerading as best 22.

I just don’t see it with Motlop.

He doesn’t have enough agility or pace to be a dangerous small forward.

I don’t think he’s ever evaded or shrugged a tackle.

And his pressure is average.

He’s probably no better but I see more upside with Moir.

It’s the lack of effort even just to walk over to cover up an opponent that gets me.

I thought he’d come good after the Port game in 2023 when he got a late call up.

Last year was bad but I was happy to cut him some slack due to his injuries.

This year there is no excuse. It’s a tough role but that’s the life of a small forward.

Im starting to think we traded the wrong small forward to West Coast.

If I were Voss I’d drop Motlop this week and bring in Will White or Moir.

Essendon although they didn’t win showed us a way to get at Hawthorn. You have to take away their short field kicks and make them go long where they have no real aerial presence. Conversely if we kick long, we will play into the hands of Barrass Sicily & Battle.

Bombers did ditch their zone at one point and went man on man, that led to a turn around.

Possibly something Voss should look at because they will tear us apart on the outside.

I'm still holding out some hope for a win here, but for god's sake i just hope the players don't embarrass themselves yet again.

We really do need to front up and at least give an account of ourselves here. Show some fight and some pride in yourselves and the club you play for.

I'm under no illusions though that this has the potential to be every bit as bad as the last time we played them.

It's so sad to be saying things like this but here we are. That's just the grim reality of the situation sadly.

What saddens me is the hawks won a heap of premierships, became shit, now are looking fantastic again and in contention to win more flags all while we've done jack shit.
^This. We remain stagnant.
The Hawks pace will be a massive issue for us,we just don't have the cattle to go with their pace.

I know but then that almost makes me angrier if they come out next week and dish it up to the Hawks.

Do we need the ritual humiliation of what happened last night in order get 'a response' - they have to be more professional than that.
Unfortunately Thursday night was our response to the humiliation of the 60-0 Elimination Final, so I'm not hoping for much against the Hawks.

Hawks will be missing scrimshaw and worpel. Hopefully we gaining Curnow and 200% more care factor.
The only way we'll have a shot is to tackle with 100% ferocity.
Out pressure them as we won't outrun them.
I wish I could be confident in our tactical game day nouse, but I'm not.
Hawks are a fabulous side with a whip smart coach and I am envious.
Have also accepted we look a lot like Essendon compared to them, but
am hoping for improved 4x4 effort.

No personnel inclusions will help us. The inclusion of Curnow could make things worse! If we continue to bomb it in and he doesn’t go super saiyin, their rebound 50 game will demolish us.

If we play our zone defence they will cut us up, unrelenting pressure is our only hope.

I just don’t think our coaching group has it in them to get creative and change things up. If I hear Voss say ‘we just need to play our way’ I’ll throw up.

How many times do u think they can do this to us, before we react?

React? What does that word mean? Is this some new fangled buzzword? Everyone knows you aren't allowed to change anything once the game has started, right?

I'd prefer to stick with what we know thanks. Can't wait for the post match press conference where Vossy says we 'need to be more consistent in our efforts across four quarters' and one of the players says that they 'all need to be accountable' for the 157 point loss

The good news is that Hawthorne's defence is a lot stingier than Richmond so I can't see us managing 15 behinds again. They'll probably only get 7 or 8 goals from this

Fun fact everyone:

The only teams we've beaten in the last 8 months are North and West Coast.

We're a bottom 4 club and we're going to get smashed.

That might be a fact but it isn't fun.

Neither is the fact that Hawthorn have our first and second round draft picks this year. Belt us and demoralise us by enough and thet could set the tone for that to become pick 2 and 20.

Suggestions for a very long movie?
I'm thinking Dr Zhivago at this point.

I can get very distracted by snow, sleds and romance.

So buy in is not there.
Getting the best out of what we have is not there
List management is not there
Resilience is not there.

How about hope?

Has anyone seen hope?

Camon. Bluebloys. 30 plus years.
This is wearing thin.
We'd have to win on pure heart and guts.

Pressure like we haven't pressured for a long time.
Surprise us- make us look like disloyal fools please!

Sadly I think we'll get absolutely smacked.

But hoping we at least show some goddamn fight and grit, and not just for a token first quarter or whatever. ALL GAME.

Haynes and Doc should drop themselves if the MC won't do it.

Evans out.

Don't think it needs more than that - we're up against a form side, making 10 changes and playing a bunch of kids won't help. Need to channel the "pain and dissapointment" the guys apparently feel into a big response.

The two older heads in shit form need to make way though, their panicked fumbles and miskicks were a key factor in the team going to water. A month of strong VFL form should be the minimum for them to get back in. Evans was only in as depth anyway, so should simply make way as others come back.

Out: Haynes, Evans, Docherty (sub)
In: Carroll, Curnow, Moir/Fantasia (sub)

Maintain the backline structure, just ditch the bloke who couldn't mark and repeatedly got in the way of others for a kid who has shown plenty of skill and courage. Go a touch taller up forward.

If Fantasia is ready for a full game, wouldn't be against swapping him in for Cotts or Fogarty, but ONLY if he's 100%.
