“I think it is talked about a lot with the boys, having a good first year in the system and then struggling a bit in the second and third,” he said.

“I have chatted to people about that and I think the big one is just the mental side of the game, backing yourself in. I work closely with our psychologist Sean Richardson and just work on having a good mindset going into the year and having a strong focus on my role and how I am going to play that.

“There will be that expectation that I hold on myself and the outside people kind of perceive on me but as long as I work with the psych and work with the coaches to have clear focuses each week, even if I do have a poor game I can bounce back.”

DARCY WILSON ON …

His contract status after given his draftee deal ends in 2026: “I will just go out and play footy next year. It is kind of in the back of my mind at the moment, I am sure my manager will have a chat to me maybe next year and see what happens.”

Having Saints legends and midfield champions Robert Harvey and Lenny Hayes as coaches:“First walking in to the club I definitely had stars in my eyes. They are the type of people that make you feel welcome and don’t really make you feel like they are better than you.”

Being the man to catch in 2km time trials:“I don’t really feel like it’s put a target on my back. At the end of the day you are there to play footy. It was obviously good to run OK but I just bring it back to training hard and working hard.”

Missing the top eight in 2024: “We are looking to play finals every year and win a premiership every year. I think every team is looking to do that. But for us, it is just continuing to build a really successful team and overall be the best Saints ever. That is kind of our motto at the moment.”

ChatGPT is bad at such things.

Machine learning allows it to predict the next keystroke that it needs to pop in. Amazingly useful for certain things. Yet, sport predictions are not one of them.

Looks like there was a story in the Adelaide Advertiser today that went spouting off about how Port should chase NAS. Couldn’t read it because locked out, but anyway, Port do seem to have a record for getting players back to the SA nest. Dearest Lord up in heaven - do not let it be. Keep a Saint in heaven, where a Saint belongs, captive to the romantic and charming environs of Linton st.

Nothing revolutionary:

NASIAH WANGANEEN-MILERA (ST KILDA)

The silky smooth half-back had plenty of fans at Alberton but the Glenelg product was selected by the Saints just one pick ahead of what the Power were able to trade up to – Port took Josh Sinn – in the 2021 draft. Since then the Power have remained interested in the nephew of club legend Gavin Wanganeen and with Dan Houston going to Collingwood in the off-season it is expected Port will make a big move for the out of contract Wanganeen-Milera who had a career best year in 2024 and is primed to take the next step towards stardom in 2025.

That Victorian they took, Josh Sinn, seems like their version of Hunter Clark. Talented, injured, unlucky?, injured again…Has played and handful of games and I’m sure they’d be plenty of PA fans who wouldn’t mind swapping him for NAS..
But fat chance…too late.. Come on NAS. Ross loves you. And so do we.

if nas left id assume two firsts

You'd want a top 5 pick and a second FRDP for sure.

Realistically they probably offer up Sinn and a decent FRDP. We probably would have asked for Bergman and a FRDP a couple of years ago. I think Schoenmaker probably makes him less of a need now.

Hopefully we sign him for 10 years instead. He's probably going to go to go to an absolutely elite level next year.

Unless we actually want Sinn, they can offer something better.

I do not want to lose someone we know will be a certain star and have put the time into for 2 picks ( even first rounders) who are no guarantee and then add another two/ three years to our wait.

Saints had better have this well in hand because if we lose him there will be anarchy. I’m not panicking though
because pretty sure if we do, the powers that be would also know exactly what a gem we have. ( praying anyway 🙄)

They do need to get on with it though before the speculation really gets out of control.

What does 2025 have in store for St Kilda?

Really difficult to tell, as I see it there is a top and tail to the coming season. The only team I would bet on making the finals is Brisbane then there's high probabilities in the Hawks and Cats basically there's an even field to Richmond and West Coast where according to injury, coaching and development just about any supporter from any team could say "I think we should play finals this year". Now some are more deluded than others (Essendon and Nth) but I can see their point.

If we have players that play to their potential and a good run with injuries we can be a top 4 team. Another injury year as bad or worse could see us in the bottom six.

I'd pin it at a minimum of more wins than losses and see what happens.

A good 2025 is what we need for him to stay
Yeah, that is good, but he needs 'content' as we all do.
I am gonna say we need to pass certain stages of the season.
The first three games, I reckon we can win a couple, but then I sense a slump before picking up just before the bye.
Unless our forward line starts gelling together I see a dysfunctional forward line as our Achilles heel.
So please forward line - gel. Just wear hair gel if necessary. Just ggggeeeellll!

Now we have a good run home again, but if the damage is already done, its no good, so a pass mark has to be to win a few of those between Round 3 and round 9.

Winning the 50/50 games is a big pass!

Beat
GWS Norwood Rnd 5
Carl Marvel Rnd 9
WC Perth Rnd 10

and pinch two of these

Adelaide @AO Rnd 1
Geelong Marv Rnd 2
Freo @ Marvel Rnd 8
WB Marv Rnd 6*

* can't see it, but whatever
edit WB will be toast when we meet in Rnd 6
Their fixture is a fuxture (excuse my Kiwi accent)
  • R4 v Fremantle (Optus Stadium)
  • R5 v Brisbane (Gather Round – Norwood Oval)
  • R7 v GWS (Manuka Oval)
  • R9 v Gold Coast (TIO Stadium)

add to a win over Rich Rnd 3

That is 6 wins by the bye..
We'd be going great guns to have six wins by then, even five would be OK
