I agree except I think Macrae is the Crouch replacement. For Battle, we are left with a hole that will have to be filled, but we have a few possibilities.
As I said at the start, we really didn’t have a choice.
Responding to other posters here,
1) I’ve never doubted the Sharman class and potential and I’ve always been a big fan, but I was a bit disappointed. I think part of it was seeing him as defender, then dropped, then sub, and then popping up and no and again. Putting aside that brilliant finish to 2021, when he came out of nowhere for five great games, he’s lining up for his fourth full season after 10-16-18 games, more than a couple have been sub.
2) I don’t understand people saying ‘second half of the season’ for Membrey and being good. If Round 20 signals the second half of the season, well and good. I think Philipou’s increased output helped. Frankly, St Kilda were done and dusted by then. I think we should all take a hard look at the Adelaide game preceeding that, and see where we will be better.
It’s a great example because,
1) Adelaide in Adelaide is our first shoot out of the season
2) Sharman kicked a couple and, Phillipou did plenty too, and NAS was the best
3) Hill was out due to personal reasons and our forward entries were low
4) we got off to a good start and fell away..Members was very disappointing and had plenty of game time
5) being Round 19, it is well and truly second half of the season
6) Battle was 89% on the ground
7) Wilkie only 3 marks and 14 possies
8) Butler and Higgins combined score output = one behind.
now the following week we played West Coast, down in the dumps and missing key players. We cleaned up, and Memebers kicked five. But did we play a virtual seconds team?

I reckon McLennan could do Battle's role. He's probably better than Ari defensively and good in the air. Height doesn't matter as much in the third tall interceptor role. Sicily and Tom Stewart are around his size.
