Canberra only gets two games during the Easter Show, so no issue with scheduling with the later one.

In a normal season, there's a five or six-game stretch over the Easter Show. I reckon the Giants only need to fill that with one Accor game in the middle to break up the stretch, then get more Giants Stadium games later in the season.
Yeah, that's a good short term fix, but long-term, if Canberra were to get their own team, then those two Canberra games the Giants currently get during the Easter Show could surely be moved to Accor.

Another option could be to play that “California” home game against Essendon that was floated pre-COVID so you would have 9x (Showgrounds), 1x (Accor) and 1x (California).

*- Another home match in Adelaide for Gather Round, if home matches equate to 12 in the future.

Would the obstacle to a Canberra/ACT/SNSW team rather the opposition from GWS not wanting to lose its academy zones?

The Giants only have eight players on their list from Canberra and the Riverina (18% of their list). The Riverina is pretty far from Sydney, so a lot of players that have gone through the academy still end up in Melbourne. Three quarters of current academy products are no longer playing with the Giants.

Hopefully Western Sydney is producing a few players by then that'd actually stay with the club. The AFL took Albury from GWS in 2017. It might make sense to give that back to the Giants if they lose Canberra and the Riverina.

I think the Giants/Canberra academy situation is pretty manageable.

How many players from AFL lists are from Albury?

Canberra really do get some great crowds to their games. The other appeal of a Canberra team is, it's so close to Victoria, even if the local side is crap you'd get a few thousand travellers each home game as it's an easy drive from Victoria.

I heard of plenty of people that couldn't get tickets as well. With a larger capacity, it would've got 14-15k. Which is more than Gold Coast got against the Lions in last year's QClash.

I reckon the AFL are biding their time hoping North stay s**t. And then claim they have little choice but to fold them.
You would think North management aware of this and planning accordingly. Get into Bendigo like the Dogs in Ballarat.
