The guy only won the NAB rising star award, played every game for the 2011 season, voted best first year player by his peers etc... Of course you have to rate him. The guys a freak!
As for Conca, no doubt the guy is talented but I somehow don't recall him getting any of these accolades young Dyson got. Speaks for itself I think.

seriously though, who honestly gives a **** what Richmond fans think, especially about us?
It's honestly like a street sweeper giving his opinion on nuclear physics.

Like I said, the stats say they are alot closer than you say. Conca looks pretty close to me!
Tackles and clearances......pretty much the most important stats when it comes to winning games of footy, don't remember bounces ever been mentioned as a must for victory:eek:
This is what's known as a classic backpedal right here.
From "Conca has shown way more"
to
"closer than you say" (when you'll note I never said they weren't close this year, just that Heppell was & is still ahead).

Don't worry mate, one day Conca will actually go into the middle and influence a game, like Heppell has done numerous times over the last two years.
I think it'll be very soon.
But he's just not at the same level yet.

Here's a tip, never enter a debating contest.
I said Conca has shown more as a midfielder. I believe Heppell's overall game is much better. But these are just opinions.
You said that Heppell was waaaaay ahead of Conca not just "still ahead" yet I simply pointed out that the stats state otherwise.
The facts are Conca has better DE (uses the ball better), more tackles, more clearances and contested ball is about even (but I do note that all of these stats are quite even between the two). These are the most important stats. So how you come to the conclusion that Heppell is so far ahead of Conca can only be explained by pure bias.
You lose this one
Good day sir

P.S. I googled backpedal and there was only a picture of you:confused:

And you were wrong - one of them has had a BOG & other nigh-on BOGs from the midfield (you know, impact); one hasn't, but did have that one pretty good game against Melbourne - in a weaker midfield.

And the majority of the stats go Heppell's way, too.

I think the stats show exactly what everyone thinks they can see. Heppell is a far more classy player with seemingly more time. He shows this with good hands under pressure and occassionallly taking players on. While Conca is a deficient, compared with Heppell, in these areas he has 100% crack tackling and crashing into packs/clearances much harder.

Conca gets just as many lose possessions across half back as Heppell because Richmond chip around the half back a lot more than Essendon does. What stands out a lot about Heppell is that it was clear in his first season that Essendon try to isolate him on half back or the wing to give him time to quarter back a foray forward. He is also already directing traffic.

Pretty clear to me that from 2010 to 2024 Essendon will only have two captains.

So you're a stats man hey?

Can't argue with someone who bases everything around stats when comparing two players of the same age.

Just be happy you got Conca in the first place. Could have been worse...

I disagree. Conca will be a very good player, no doubt, and adds to their midfield rotations well. He may not get to the level of Heppell, but to say that he's an honest battler or plodder is like saying Ben Howlett is the same.

It's like comparing tomatoes and potatoes. They are both very good and serve a completely different purpose from one another. A tomato is all class, adds flavour and style to a dish. A potato is a basic ingredient that while necessary, will never be a standout.

You decide which player is the tomato and which is the spud...

Strange comparison, very different players. Conca's shown plenty that I'd like to see more of from Heppell (and many more of our younger players); but Dyson has already demonstrated certain elements of class that not too many players possess.

I will say, though, that Heppell's impact from the midfield has been overstated by some. He's had some really promising moments in there already, and I have no doubt he'll become a super midfielder... but really, 2012 on the whole exposed as many of Heppell's weaknesses as strengths, particularly when thrown in the middle.

Cotchin is the best player in the comp - lets not argue against that

I find it amazing how confident people are that Heppell will be the better player. Well not really considering its an essendon board if i went to the richmond board Conca would be the better player. Sure, I see more upside in Heppell than conca but i also see Conca as more of a consistent performer aswell - this is purely just based on what i see (no stats).

Is this some sought of a joke?

Forecasting players careers is a mugs game at the best of times and regularly makes a fool of the best of us. All we know is that Heppell has had a very nice start to his career and that he's played better than Conca has. But there are no shortage of players who have developed a little later or improved dramatically in their third or fourth year. Put it this way, after two seasons no one thought that GAJ would become the player that he did. While I have no hesitation saying that Heppell is the best player now, there is plenty of uncertainty as to whether he'll be a better player next season, or the season after or over their respective careers.
