Love him.

Bomber called him a superstar in the presser (tried to cover it by saying he was super) and he's spot on. He's a genuine top level midfielder in the competition. This is his fourth season.

Much happier with last night. Getting a literal shit tonne of the ball and still maintaining that really damaging hurt factor is what's going to propel him up toward the top 10 mids in the comp, if he's not there already.

Also good to see him calling the shots in the 3rd, a definite leader

2 badges for $10 at the footy last night my son decides to get JD and BJ, I say "get Heppell" maybe next time he replies. Off to the bar we all go for a quick couple before taking our seats and it just wouldn't digest with me so I had to reach into my wallet pull out $6 and say "Here go and get Heppell ". I felt a whole lot better after that.

There's been plenty of talk on here about Heppell being our next captain which I have always thought to be premature.

Well a fortnight into our time without Watson and I'm now firmly onboard. This bloke his captain stamped all over himself. He is leading from the front on field, he is the one who was leading the on-field pow wow before going in at half time, he just needs a decent ****ing haircut.

Said it before, will say it again.. he is the closest thing to Simon Black going around. Just needs a touch more polish & he is top 10 in the comp.

Surely we don't have to pussyfoot around the whole Heppell vs Conca/Atley debates any longer.

At this point in time, those comparisons are well and truly obsolete.

When was there ever a debate?

I'll admit that I am concerned about the balance of our midfield and that something will have to give but it isn't going to be our 22 year old driving force.

While I would take Atley in a heart beat to add some explosiveness into our game surely the only people who would suggest that Conca and Atley are anything but miles behind Heppell would be the most one eyed Richmond and North supporters.

The only bloke you can compare to him in that draft is Prestia.

Based on style or output?

Bennell's arguably ahead on output, Swallow's making ground as well
Output. Heppell=Prestia>Bennell>Swallow.

Remember that people were saying Swallow was (prematurely) a poor #1 pick last year. Bennell hasn't been at the other two's level yet.

I agree Bennell hasn't produced the consistency of the others but this is a guy who kicked 6 and had 25+ only a couple of weeks ago and is a genuine explosive match winner.

I don't doubt the consistency and volume of output puts Heppell and Prestia ahead but Bennell's gotta be in the conversation. I know it's taken Swallow a while but he's starting to catch up too.

His best is just as good as the other 2's, but is just simply too up and down to be considered in the same class

I'd argue Bennell's best might be better.
Fair call, I was probably a bit biased there.

Still take 26 touches, 5 clearance game every week over a 30 touch, 4 goal game every month.
