Hold the horses- Goddard is easily the most talented player on the list. Jobe is the best, Goddard second, Hepp third, but BJ definitely the most talented.

disagree. reckon Hep has more natural talent than BJ. he's only turned 22. he hasn't even come close to his potential yet. not dissing BJ mind you! love him too!

Jobe's a story of pure hard work rather than talent.

know what you're saying, but hard work can only get you so far. Jobe's talent was always there, he just had to work harder to reach it. he reads the play as good as anyone (except Fletch)

Does Heath Hocking not get the recognition he deserves?

Rate Hocking as a mid-level tagger - He is very good at the team oriented things like tackling, blocking etc, which elevates his game.

Ball use in last month has significantly improved.

I can't remember which game it was, but it all started with that bullet to Daniher, I stopped and thought 'that hasn't happened before'. Seems to be getting used to the extra size he's put on.

Next year is his time if he continues the same vein of form.
5th in the league for disposals. I'd say his last 6-8 weeks put him very close to AA. Not the the award holds any sort of prestige IMO.

Macaffer tagged him all the way to 29 disposals (13 contested) and 8 clearances.

Does anyone seriously think this bloke is even remotely near Crowley/Cornes as a tagger?

Heppell has given the opposition serious cause for concern. His form since becoming the alpha dog in the middle has me giggling like a school girl thinking what he'll become. No doubt he's been fantastic since game 1 of his career, but the added responsibility has seen his game go to another level.

Look at Heppell's form since Jobe went down. Then think about Zaka's return to form. Throw in a bloke called Watson. There's an endurance beast called Stanton that can punish if left unchecked.

That's 4 guys that can lay legitimate claims for a 4 quarter tag.

Then the support staff of Myers, Goddard, Howlett, Hocking, Zach, Chapman, Melksham. Plenty of talent in that bunch that can and will hurt you if given space.

That's 11 guys that can rotate through the middle, and it does not count guys like Jackson and Colyer who add outside run, nor guys like Kav who are plying their trade in the VFL, nor someone like Pig who may have to go into the guts if Winderlich stays in defence.

It's amazing what form and confidence does. After the Melbourne loss I was lamenting our depth, the last fortnight has me thinking we're looking pretty decent.

I have secretly though that this guy was a cream puff since his first game and that it was only a matter of time before he showed his true colours. Well he has. He'll probably be a future captain, and I've never been so happy to be wrong in my life.

The moment where he stopped dead like the road runner and the 3 maggies coyotes kept going past him was magic.

Foot skills MUCH improved. Worked hard through a tag. Boys (and gals), we've got a gun here.

I'm crook at the moment and THat moment just happened as I rewatch the game. He's a ****ing star. GOod to see Zack on the end of it too.

Gold Coast then chose Josh Caddy at Pick 7, leaving the Bombers barely believing their luck that Heppell was still available. And as luck would have it the Heppell family doctor was long-serving Essendon medico Bruce Reid, who assured the Bombers’ list manager Adrian Dodoro that there would be no long-term OP problems. Dodoro had spoken briefly with Heppell at draft camp but given up all hope when hel produced a 2.95 sec 20m speed test.

Been saying this all year - Cornes is criminally under-rated as a player and as a tagger.

i keep remembering to that fruitful U18 game in his draft year where he had something ridiculous (40 possessions maybe?) and quite literally hauled his side across the line to a grand final berth.

It was immense. Loved it. My favourite piece of play was that bullet handball to Stanton on the 50. Bullet like. Scott West workmanlike with the Pendlebury class.

Im not sure it's his kicking that has improved, more his actual role he is playing. A better first possession player, not 3rd/4th possession that he was resigned to playing with BJ/Watson in the same side.

Hope when these 3 are in the same side, Hep can continue on his merry way and we see BJ more predominantly on the outside with those foot skills piercing to Joe/Carlisle/Paddy/TBC inside 50

Have to agree to disagree. The last couple of weeks he's hit targets well going inside 50 which he wasn't doing much earlier this season.

On the last point, absolutely. Goddard is a brilliant ball user (decision making + skills) going inside 50 so if he gets 8+ I50's a game, that's gotta be good for the team.
