ALL senior players go at half pace during practice games. It's completely normal for them to get themselves ready for round 1 not a month before it

You also never know if the coaches have given them some specific task to focus on to the exclusion of all others which would affect their output in the practice games as well. In short, you can tell **** all from a side's JLT form

The thing about Heppell is that if All Australian selection is a benchmark for the quality of a player, I thought that he was underwhelming as an "All Australian" but that never meant that he did not have scope to improve (particularly evolving a more damaging attacking part to his game).

We probably have not thought of Heppell as someone who will benefit from playing in a better side but there were obvious and significant signs last night that he has an vastly improved player to the one that was selected as an All Australian.

He's had 5 seasons as the young kid hotshot. He's won all the individual young/rookie player awards, which has highlighted his potential. Now, as he's about to turn 25, and been appointed captain, it's time to take it to the next level and lead this team and club back to Premiership success. On the evidence of yesterday, he's accepting this challenge, and hopefully he'll continue to flourish. Time will tell.
