Knightmare on the draft board has consistently had him 5-10 all year in his power rankings
Nice pickup

in fact, for whatever it is worth, Knightmare had Balta (7), Higgins (14), CCJ (12) and Naish (19) in his top 20 Power rankings as late as August, Balta (5), Higgins (11) and CCJ (13) as late as September and Balta (6) and Higgins (9) in the final ranking released at the start of November

No idea if he has any history of being accurate but lets hope so!!!

Could this guy play the Grigg role? It has been mentioned above by Mr Magic, wing changing in the ruck. His highlights look great, would love to see his lowlights package to see what the issues are.

I think wing/ruck is a good start.

It allows him to exploit athletic attributes to fuel his interest. Allows him to explore and develop.

Bit like Kouta allows him to grow and find his strengths. Immediately there will be match up issues for opposition but he might need a few very smart people to guide him in ways he can improve, succeed in turn fostering his interest and development.

Likewise if he is at FF leading where his speed and athleticism is to his advantage he can learn to improve from the likes of JR as to how to attract the ball conserve energy and the small forwards can assist at ground level.

Arguably Balta in KPP has not being played in the most suitable role for the team and to exploit his athletic profile. I think it takes a lot of smarts to dominate a KPP post and maybe Balta still needs to develop that which can always occur in time with experience

Let the Croatian recruitment continue! Will feel right at home with Soldo and Ivan at the club. Excited about this kid.

My god we picked up some good potential players didn't we? Loved all the players we drafted. A few of them look ready to go from Day 1. I saw a photo of Higgins standing next to Naish. Higgins had a Jack Graham build already. Balta looks a ready-to-go build as does Miller. All of these guys will bring healthy competition to the list from day 1

Is it just me or does Balta look like he wants to get out there and crunch a few bods??.....

2 weeks before the draft this bloke was almost unanimously who every tiger fan wanted with our first pick. I think with the surprise and excitement of Higgins falling to 17 people have forgot how much we all wanted him. He's bloody exciting to have. So much potential and only just scratched the surface of what he can do I feel

Really? Thought I was the only one ;).

Essendon Doutta Stars president Bruce Runting recalls Richmond draftee Noah Balta’s special EDFL senior debut
Tim Michell, Moonee Valley Leader
November 27, 2017 12:56pmJULY 16, 2016, was the day Bruce Runting knew Noah Balta was going to be something special.

Essendon Doutta Stars, where Runting is president, found themselves 32 points adrift at halftime in their Premier Division EDFL clash with Avondale Heights.
The Stars’ comeback was led by Balta, playing his first senior game for the club at 16 years of age.

Essendon Doutta Stars went down by four points despite the second-half rally, however Runting left Canning Reserve confident the club had a future AFL player in its ranks.

“Noah just turned the whole game on his own foot,” Runting said.
“We knew then that he was definitely a contender.”

Runting’s prediction was realised at Friday’s AFL national draft when Balta was snapped up by reigning premier Richmond at pick 25.

“Noah got to the club at under-10s,” he said.
“His first year he played in the grand final in under-10s and his last year at the club he played in a grand final and went on to (TAC Cup club Calder) Cannons.
“He’s been there his whole life.”

Balta’s last junior game for the club was an under-16 grand final in 2015, where he featured alongside his best mate and this year’s No. 1 draft pick Cam Rayner.

The pair combined for three majors in a 31-point win over Keilor before Rayner ran amok in the under-18 decider the following week.
The future Brisbane Lion booted eight goals and was named best afield in a seven-point victory over Craigieburn, announcing himself in spectacular fashion.

“He’s a super star,” Runting said.

“He was unbelievable.”
Balta enhanced his draft chances with Calder Cannons in the TAC Cup during the past two years and was touted as a possible first-round pick.
The athletic 195cm utility became a Tiger with Richmond’s third selection, joining Jack Higgins, Patrick Naish, Callum Coleman-Jones and Ben Miller at Punt Road.

Runting said the impact of having junior player drafted was evident two days after the draft.
“We had our junior registration (on Sunday) morning and we had over 100 kids turn up,” he said.
“One of them came to the club in the under-9s and had a Richmond jumper on.
“The parents openly said that they watched the draft and had seen that Noah had been chosen by Richmond.
“It’s a great form of advertisement for the club and the hard work that all the volunteers put in.”

Not sure how Balta's endurance is but the first thing I would concentrate on him becoming a better player is to improve his endurance so he can cover more ground to make a bigger impact particularly in a role like wing where his marking can become invaluable to a team like RFC in terms of link play, aerial contesting playing as well as goal kicking threats in terms of the Richo/ Nick Reiwoldt wing roles.

Balta's aerial contesting as a link and forward threat arguably should make the team a lot stronger in theory.

I think Garth, Balta & Miller will slowly take over from Astbury, Rance & Grimes.
It wouldnt surprise me to see Astbury play forward at some stage
Personally hapy to keep him back & he seems happy there. FWIW i reckon our "back 6" is our strongest line.

From what I've seen posted and in the media lately, Balta looks like a similar player to Griffith - except he seems to consistently get good possession numbers; regularly takes marks and kicks goals, seems to get to where the ball is, looks to be an accurate kick and doesn't seem to be injury prone. Apart from those things he is basically a shorter version of Griff who makes good decisions. (For those of you who need the clarification: :).)

Your not sure how his endurance is but you would improve his insurance?

Can someone call this guy a ****ing taxi please.
