IMO it seems like a bit of column A & column BI'm not buying the 4 weeks = means he did something worse than we thought line just yet.
We are on a new era full of youngsters and this is the clubs first opportunity to set the bar and show it isn't acceptable.
Noah needs to learn from this
Accumulating browny points whilst assisting our 2025 draft position .If Balta was just retaliating and punching someone that put his safety in jeopardy, then I don’t think the club would’ve suspended him. I think that’s what happened in the Shai Bolton + Rioli incident from memory, and Bolton didn’t get suspended.
Sounds like Balta did more than just defend himself here given the punishment the club gave and the assault charges. Regardless, it’s just not what our club needs right now.
Not going to say that 4 weeks is too much given we don’t really know the details of the incident well enough, so I’m going to trust the club on this one.
Besides, this would end up giving one of the kids an opportunity to get a feel for playing at AFL level.
We would've given him 4 mins if we were in premiership contentionTo be fair, this is probably the year where it means sweet **** all to us anyway, as Balta or no Balta we're likely finishing bottom 2 next year. We also kick off with Carlton, Port, St Kilda, Brisbane. Carlton, Port and Brisbane are pretty much guaranteed losses anyway, St Kilda we could probably upset on a day, but I don't think I'd lose sleep over missing him for that 1 upset chance, and it's likely a loss anyway.
The years you don't want your key players missing is those when you're challenging for finals/top4/flags. This is pretty negligible for us tbh. Also lets either Trainor, Miller, Blight get extra development games and push their case for that 3rd tall spot as I assume Balta and Gibcus are our two main KPDs.
I reckon that is around the mark too.IMO it seems like a bit of column A & column B
Column A: Noah engaged in more than just a bit of push and shove
Column B: Club is setting a new standard regarding the expectation of player behavior
Yes they would have they’d say no confrontation under any circumstances, only incident would be ok if he was woken up to noise in the lounge room and was jumped by 4 armed vagrants which is fairly common in melb these daysIf Balta was just retaliating and punching someone that put his safety in jeopardy, then I don’t think the club would’ve suspended him. I think that’s what happened in the Shai Bolton + Rioli incident from memory, and Bolton didn’t get suspended.

Josh Bootsma sacked by Carlton
Carlton youngster Josh Bootsma has become the first AFL player to be sacked for social media misconduct, after the Blues terminated his contract on Tuesday.www.theage.com.au

ground control to major tom
Careydoes this bloke think degoey plays for richmond or something?
Court fine will be **** allGeez we have some posters here who would fit in perfectly as a current day AFL media journo.
Talk about over dramatize a situation and try get the masses all worked up. Noah was always copping a club suspension once he turned himself in, the guy he belted ended up in hospital with a few stitches, it's not a good look for the club and we have always given our players slightly bigger punishment than other teams do with their players, (Cough Collingwood & Geelong) that's what we do.
Personally, i think its shit, but we have done this for ages now.
Noah will go to court cop a hefty fine and a record to never do it again and he will be back in round 5.
We'll be 4-0.Noah will go to court cop a hefty fine and a record to never do it again and he will be back in round 5.
Yep, they'll have had plenty of discussions, so if he was the good Samaritan helping someone or defending someone, I think we would be reading a different narrative. Rather Noah gets a heavy suspension than risk a Judge making an example of him, even by some degree. It's all calculated and considered. If Balta was just retaliating and punching someone that put his safety in jeopardy, then I don’t think the club would’ve suspended him.
