I'm gonna say this one more time to you dwarf burners, even though after 1000 times I know it won't sink in

JAKE

FFS. Write it on your (or a schoolgirl's) bedroom wall or something... just read it until it sinks in.
Emotional guy, footy is just a game mate.

I don't think he is going to the PSD, I was pointing out how silly it is to think he would get picked up there. However the fact remains if he did go there that is who would pick him up.

At the moment he gets traded to St Kilda or Hawthorn.

20%, and yeah we would need to give them a better incentive imo. Maybe tell them we won't bid on the academy kids just like viney a few years ago?
Looking at the document, pretty sure it's 25.

Basically, a club will bid for Hopper with their pick. Say we bid with pick 4. Then, GWS have to "pay" the 2034 points pick 4 is worth, minus a 25% discount for Academy player. So, they pay 1526 points. Pick 8 is worth 1551 points, so they have 25 points in "change", which gives them back pick 72 (between actual 72 and 73).

23 and 25 together are worth 1571, so they get another 20 points.

I don't know that it's enough for them to do the deal..

There will be 16 clubs lining up to try and get those pick upgrades, it would need to be a good 500 point improvement for them I'd say.

Hypothetically if you did get St Kildas second (obviously alongside Billings) for Carlisle you would possibly be in with a chance for pick 7 or 8 from GWS, this was why I was asking whether anyone would consider JC and the two second rounders for 5 because that's what I had in mind

AFL trades 2015: Hawthorn, Richmond enter race for Jake Carlisle

Jay Clark, Sam LandsbergerHerald Sun

HAWTHORN is primed to steal Jake Carlisle from St Kilda’s clutches in a bold move certain to strengthen the powerhouse’s quest to win a fourth-straight premiership.

The Herald Sun can reveal the Hawks initiated secret talks with Essendon on Tuesday, eager to seize on the Saints’ refusal to part with pick five to secure Carlisle.

But the Saints can still land their man — but would almost certainly have to roll over and give up the selection the Bombers have always wanted.

Bombers list chief Adrian Dodoro last night told the Herald Sun “as far as we’re concerned we are only dealing with the Hawks”.

Essendon is incensed at St Kilda’s stalling with the Saints yet to table an offer for Carlisle, who wants to play for them.

v1

Essendon is ecstatic with Hawthorn’s proposed trade, which would deliver the rebuilding club five picks inside 25 — the Dons’ strongest draft hand in history.

The Bombers would land pick 15 (North Melbourne), pick 18 (Hawthorn) in exchange for Carlisle and pick 41 (Kangas).

The mooted deal would also see young Hawk Jed Anderson sent to North.

The Hawks, Dons and North Melbourne yesterday agreed to terms on that blockbuster trade and are now awaiting Carlisle’s seal of approval.

The Bombers would then hold picks 4, 15, 18, 23 and 25 (acquired from Melbourne yesterday for Jake Melksham).

Hawks coach Alastair Clarkson yesterday phoned Carlisle — who is overseas — to convince him to join the champions.

The Herald Sun believes Carlisle’s position last night was he still prefers the Saints but if they can’t strike a trade he is happy to play for the Hawks as an instant Brian Lake replacement.

The Bombers were last night looking to bolster their draft position even further, in a swap of picks with Greater Western Sydney.

Essendon — which desperately wanted to retain Carlisle — was investigating whether it could land pick No. 8 from the Giants, in exchange for Nos. 23 and 25.

If successful, it would give the Bombers twin choices (No. 4 and No. 8) in the top 10, as well as No. 15 and No. 18.

The move would be advantageous for the Giants because the points assigned to picks No. 23 and No. 25 combined (1571) are worth more than pick No. 8 (1551).

The Giants need as many points as possible to land their two academy guns, Jacob Hopper and Matthew Kennedy, under the radical new draft system.

The Herald Sun revealed Richmond had also inquired about Carlisle, which Dodoro last night described as “fact” on radio.

The Saints and Carlisle’s manager Anthony McConville last night released a joint statement saying they would continue working on a deal to send the star tall to Seaford.

“I have full faith and confidence that all parties can work together to achieve a fair outcome for everyone,” McConville said.

Dodoro told the Herald Sun the draft was the club’s No. 1 priority as he aims to replenish the list under new coach John Worsfold with young talent.

The Bombers were excluded from the first two rounds of the 203-14 drafts but are building a bonanza of early picks to relaunch the club.

The Dons have not activated four top-25 picks since 1998 and Dodoro said last week’s draft combine eliminated fears this year’s talent pool was weak.

“It’s fair to say this is a really important draft for the club,” he said.

“There’s some quality kids and testing has been really good — you’ve just got to do your homework.”

Hawks list chief Graham Wright said this week the club’s salary cup was tight but it was “open minded” about trades.

So Bombers could have 4,8,15,18

We already have the two early 2nd rounders. Move along

You serious? Carlisle and two 2nd rounders for pick 5?

Stop posting here please.

JC and the two second rounders for 5
Wait. So we would trade Carlisle, 23, 25 for 5. Then St Kilda trade 23, 24, 25 to GWS for 7/8?
Essentially making it 5 for Carlisle and 7/8 and leaving us with only 4, 5 and 41?

Don't know why you are surprised by the reaction.

Pick 5 must be made out of gold with the way St Kilda fans are carrying on about it. Someone should've told Carlton that this is the wrong year to finish last apparently as pick 5 is where it is at.

Pick 4, Carlisle and 23 for pick 5?

This was back when a lot of Essendon people were suggesting Carlisle and a second for 5.

Saints would trade three seconds for 8.

It would have essentially meant that saints would have traded their second and probably a Ross / Hickey type to Essendon for Carlisle a a slight downgrade of their first pick.

It would also mean Essendon traded Carlisle, Melksham and a 2nd for Pick 5 and Ross / Hickey.

Keeping in mind this was there was only one horse in the race.

If JC agrees to go to Hawthorn it doesn't matter now anyway as saints will be out of the race.

Probably belongs in the pearlers thread but it will do here...

There is, but it's being done at a tip-toe rate. As I suggested, they want a big dog to provide a catalyst, and WADA is a very big dog.

The country might be able to weasel its way around international bodies like the UNHRC, but this is sport and WADA hold the cards over a sport that's played in 1 country, that also has a whole lot of people who want to perform on the world stage, sans having to jump through extra hoops because some criminal outfit thought they could trump a voluntary global agreement to behave by employing a couple of dodgy spruikers for unapproved and dangerous 'supplements'.

So effectively you get Carlisle and pick 8 for pick 5.

For the love of god man, you are on the Essendon board, stop posting dreamy rubbish.

I'm begrudgingly impressed.

Essendon acting like a heavyweight again in this draft, likely taking advantage of terrible decisions by minnows (1. North - Anderson for their first pick with a geriatric list? 2. Melbourne - pick 25 for Melkshit? Lol)

Chances are everyone on this board will owe Dodoro what my screen name made famous when all this is done.

If our second and Ross don't count as anything I suppose GWS are going to donate pick 8 to Essendon out of the kindness of their hearts?

Do it then, how do you get 3 seconds? by my count you've got 2 with one to probably be used to acquire Nathan Freeman, so you've got one, and that only becomes relevant if collingwood accept a 2016 second rounder for Freeman. Where do you get another 1, let alone another two? Hickey?

Offering up a player who signed a 2 year contract extension 2 months ago is equal parts amateurish, disrespectful and stupid, so it would sum up the Saint's trade period pretty well then

This is in the hypothetical that we trade Carlisle and both 23 and 25 for 5.

If St Kilda don't respond with pick 5 tomorrow, we should trade him to hawthorn and move on. Not waiting til the eleventh hour for these muppets. Would probs prefer 15 + 18. St Kilda brought this on themselves playing so hard for a quality player without actually having a reasonable offer up their sleeve as a back up plan at least
