Society's moved to a point where shit, f*ck and c*nt are kind of ok. Homophobic, racist, sexist, able-ist slurs (don't know if its a word) aren't ok. Case in point: Eminem on his new album drops the c a few times and it's fine - but the word f****t gets censored.

I think we're at a point where words like sp****c and r****d are considered no-go's, everywhere. Personally, if someone says that to me I'll go them, have had a close family member who has an impairment. I used to use r****d often - I don't anymore.

Cads apologised and did it well. Really needs to put it in action though. Example setting 'n shit.

Otherwise, he played a ripping game

But f*****t is such a expressive word. The world has gone mad.

I can’t believe calling someone a s*****c is still a thing.

That’s something an 8 year old would say at primary school pre-2000. It’s the lamest sledge you could possibly come up with surely.

That’s the very reason I thought the sledge was harmless, it was so lame in that moment.

Having said that it was good to see that he later publicly apologised.

honestly haven't read most of this thread....but if an 18 yo rookie came in for his 1st game, having an argy bargy with a 35 yo veteran....then the 18 yo says...."ahh shut up OLD man, you can't get a kick anymore"....is that offensive ? attacking someone's age ?
Without getting into Federal/State law (eg. Age Discrimination Act 2004).

Section 4 of the AFL's National Vilification and Discrimination Policy:
Section 35.1 of the AFL Rules:

Short answer would be, if a complaint is made, it will be reviewed and go through some sort of informal resolution.

It's quite possible this is what has happened with Caddy, with a complaint made by a spectator. The resolution he was directed to was likely a public apology.

No not the same. We all get old, some things you just have to suck up. You shouldn't have to suck up racist, gay, handicapped etc slurs. There is nothing to wrong with being any of those things so you shouldn't be denigrated if you happen to be one.

so I guess it's safer to be polite....like saying this to Gaz..."would you like some help getting to the other side of the ground there... folicly challenged grandpa ?"

Most football players wouldn't make a complaint unless it was really bad.

Only really an issue when it's heard by the public.

Can we now move on to things other than discussing/arguing the merits of what was said?

Like, can Caddy kick enough goals to reach 50 goals for the season?
How can he and Prestia woo Tom Lynch?

Is Josh Caddy the big bodied midfielder that we're missing?

In 2015 with Geelong, Caddy played predominantly through the middle and in 19 games averaged

20.4 disposals
3.7 marks
5.6 tackles
5.1 clearances
10.3 contested possessions
5 score involvements

At 186cm and 88kg he could be that extra big bodied midfielder that we need around the contest. With Lynch coming in we don't necessarily need Caddy to play as the second marking option up forward and we could have the luxury of rotating Caddy and Dusty between the middle and F50.
