It looks like the North Melbourne rebuild is going to be from the basement up as more and more players jump off the sinking ship.

With the controversially delisted four veterans out the door and Daniel Wells looking at moving to the Magpies, it doesn’t surprise that star ruckman Todd Goldstein has requested a trade, hoping to play out his last few years at a club in a premiership window.

The 28-year-old had a big drop in form this year, leading the Roos to consider his request while he has good trade value. The Rover understands the Bulldogs have put a request to Goldy’s management to keep everything on ice until their finals campaign is over.

To add to the exodus, former number three draft pick and key defender, Lachie Hansen, is being mooted as going to Brisbane for a mid to late second rounder.

Most likely bullshit but still interesting

Who is The Rover?

Lol exodus, I love how media people make a simple rebuild sound so dramatic.

And a draft pick

Not sure about that. Stringer is only 22 and already an AA and widely regarded as one of the best young players in the game. You could potentially get 10 years of A-Grade, game changing footy from Stringer. Goldy probably has 5 years at absolute most. Stringer in (and I would like o see his explosiveness in our midfield more than the Dogs play him there, rotating with Jack forward) would be a massive boon for our reset/rebuild/whatever.

So do we honestly think Bard is going to come out and categorically deny that goldy is going only then to have to come out and say well shoot I had no ****ing idea.
Whilst I do not like bard ( I think that's pretty obvious ) I highly doubt he is going to put himself in that position after the rest of what has gone on.
Cue the ensuing shitstorm if goldy has and bard is just covering it up.

Imagine the "exodus" next season when four or five of Mitchell, Hodge, Burgoyne, Gibson, Lewis and Roughead leave the Hawks next season.

Yeah, Goldstein and Stringer wouldn't have steak knives from the Dogs.

Goldstein is a significantly better player right now (and I think more valuable in real terms right now). But yeah, potentially ten years (and some improvement) against potentially 4-5 years at a very high level. It could be win / win if they thought they were close enough.

Didn't grow tall enough in his own time.

A couple of decades earlier we recruited Scott Wynd's much younger brother, Paul. He played some OK footy for the ressies over two or three seasons. However, he never grew beyond about 190cms. I'm sure we were hoping for a key position player or even better a ruckman. All we got was a tallish back flanker.

If he strings a few more together like he played in that Elimination Final, Majak will be a half decent contributor for us on a consistent basis and I'll be happily proven wrong.

Tucked away on page 61 of today's HUN:

19/09/2016: AFL: GOLDY TO STAY PUT

"NORTH Melbourne says star ruckman Todd Goldstein will not join the exodus of senior players, despite speculation he may request a fresh start. The Kangaroos were adamant at the weekend that Goldstein, 28, had not asked for a trade and was not being shopped around, despite some interest in the All-Australian ruckman. The Roos believe trading one of their best players, whatever the deal, would be irresponsible."

exodus? I suppose so but it does infer that players are running out of the joint, yet so far all departures have been at the club's discretion.
