Lance Franklin
Lance Franklin is a giant of the game. The star Sydney Swans forward has played 300 AFL games, won two premierships with Hawthorn, is the seventh-greatest goal-kicker in VFL/AFL history, is one of just five men with eight All Australian blazers and is the most recent player to have kicked 100 goals in a season. The Western Australian is also one of just two players in the game’s history, along with former Swan and Saint Tony Lockett, to have booted 300 goals for two clubs. Franklin was added to a leadership group for the first time in his career ahead of season 2020, joining co-captains Josh Kennedy, Luke Parker and Dane Rampe, as well as Callum Mills. But the 33-year-old, who was named captain of the 2018 All Australian team, has long been considered an exceptional unofficial leader, so great is his impact on Will Hayward, Nick Blakey, Ben Ronke and the rest of Sydney’s young forwards.

It's a real shame not too many are concerned about his health. I hope he is ok and able to play on the weekend. An airbag in the face wouldn't be too much fun

I think we're all actually in shock..I know I am. Humour is a coping mechanism.

Story did say he wasn't injured though thankfully.

We are in for a roller coaster time with his bloke on our list.
If we can't at least have a laugh in these moments then it will drive us mad.

I can't say I've been comfortable for one minute since Buddy has arrived & this is why.
Whether it's his fault or not, the circus that goes with it has to be distracting.

Oh well. Bring on the humour folks.

By the looks of this Buddy needs a good talking to. FFS He bought a Jeep !!!!!!!!!!!

Which explains how he hit 3 cars.

Here's the PR blurb.

The New Jeep
As big (and about as fast) as two builder's skips. As thirsty as Burke & Wills' dog. Yet it holds the road just like a car*.

The New Jeep
"Safest on the Road" Source: US Office of Road Safety^

* Based on an independent comparison with a Model T Ford
^ US Office of Road Safety found that, when a Jeep is cornering, pedestrians are safest on the road

I blame the COLA. These extra millions means he has a girlfriend with a Jeep. If she had a Cortina, not enough speed to hurt a pedestrian.

Remember - we bought Buddy to win a Flag, not to be the conservative arm of a Christian happy clappy organisation.

Seriously???

Are you offended/shocked/bewildered/amazed/disgusted? (No offence meant but I just honestly don't know)

I was just trying to indicate that I hope it's got nothing to do with the reported siezures he has previously had (as confirmed by himself/management & club earlier in the year).

Offended. As someone who is epileptic while I can understand the concern, I hate the link between the two (driving and seizures) without true understanding. But since you have made you point more clear, I can tell you if he had a seizure he wouldn't of been able to be interview by police after the crash due to the effects of the seizure basically sending him to sleep.

Cool, fair enough mate. Thanks.

Like I said, I didn't mean to offend or shock or anything. Just linked the two and though my concern worth mentioning is all.

Play on...

I gotta say the seizure thing also crossed my mind, but wasn't sure whether you could have a mini seizure and kind of snap out of it within a few seconds. I guess from Robbie's response that isn't the case.

Guess he was just being careless, glad he wasn't injured in the accident. Perhaps something like this may make him take a step back and consider his actions for a while in order to avoid any other scrutiny.

Kieren Jack retweeted this article by Andrew Wu earlier today, Andrew Pridham sticks up for Buddy. I think we have the makings of a great replacement for Colless :thumbsu:

"From our perspective he's been a model recruit in terms of behaviour around the club," Pridham said.
"He's like a big kid - he's a nice guy, very approachable, sociable. You'll struggle to find anything specific he's done wrong.
"From our point of view, clearly we don't like negative publicity but we stand up for people who have done nothing wrong. If he did something wrong we'd do something about it.
"We clearly thought he'd be big news, you can never predict the individual instances. I'd be lying if I said we expected all of this would happen."
Pridham likened the interest surrounding Franklin to when former champion Tony Lockett was at the club but said the difference today was the presence of social media.
"It's the environment that anyone with profile, unless they sit at home with their curtains drawn [they] are going to get a lot of publicity," Pridham said.
"The nature generally of the media, they like to find fault rather than positives. Everyone is out looking for him to do something wrong. Other than pranging the car, that's the only thing he's done."

Barrett was on triple M again yesterday claiming that Franklin has had numerous issues with the leadership group regarding his behaviour and approach to his pre-season etc. Garry Lyon put him back in his place.
