Lance Franklin
Lance Franklin is a giant of the game. The star Sydney Swans forward has played 300 AFL games, won two premierships with Hawthorn, is the seventh-greatest goal-kicker in VFL/AFL history, is one of just five men with eight All Australian blazers and is the most recent player to have kicked 100 goals in a season. The Western Australian is also one of just two players in the game’s history, along with former Swan and Saint Tony Lockett, to have booted 300 goals for two clubs. Franklin was added to a leadership group for the first time in his career ahead of season 2020, joining co-captains Josh Kennedy, Luke Parker and Dane Rampe, as well as Callum Mills. But the 33-year-old, who was named captain of the 2018 All Australian team, has long been considered an exceptional unofficial leader, so great is his impact on Will Hayward, Nick Blakey, Ben Ronke and the rest of Sydney’s young forwards.

Lance Franklin
DOB: 30 January 1987
DEBUT: 2005
DRAFT: #5, 2004 National Draft
RECRUITED FROM: Dowerin (WA)/Perth (WAFL)/Hawthorn

Really interesting that Melbourne won't have Clark's payments included in their salary cap, despite him breaking the contract.

It'll be interesting to see if we're afforded the same luxury with Franklin in the future.

Rest assured that we will be & it aint a luxury because it has happened for years.
If Buddy retires early, the AFL will have no choice

Hanners talking about Buddy, says he has been a good influence on the club and shares his thoughts about the game with the other players.

Hannebery said Franklin is a "good guy" who had provided advice to the club's older and younger players after a decorated career at Hawthorn.

"[He] says his thoughts about how he thinks best to attack opposition defences and different ideas on game, and what we can change up," Hannebery said.

"He's just been a good inclusion to the footy team in a general aspect.

If we have 100+ tackles like we did against Freo then we are a chance, probably the only way I can see us winning

afl will bail us out according to the main board so dont worry

A person told me in confidence (not going to reveal identity but works at the AFL) was adament that this would not and could not happen. Same person also said expectation that Franklin had 4 - 5 years in him.

Will probably get a third strike

Lot of connected people on big footy...

Had nothing to do with strikes. Was in the context of the Swans offered the deal, the board put in writing it understands the deal and that in any event, the other clubs would not allow it. That's what I was told.

Who cares? Means nothing

My mate Timmy the garbo who walks with a limp and has a speech impediment and is, well, a little mentally impaired told me the same thing and he doesn't know anyone at the AFL, amazing.

(Timmy is not his real name I don't want reveal his identity as he is a moderator on the Hawks board)

It's almost as though the AFL made a number of statements to that effect.

Carry on guys but am repeating what I was told by a pretty powerful person at the AFL. If you'd like to think I have nothing better to do than make this stuff up, so be it.

You sound as bad as Caro, seriously mate you sound pretty silly really, Frank the boot studder also thinks Buddy might only have 6yrs in him what is the point you are trying to make? Because you imagined someone from the AFL telling you that doesn't make your comments any more valid if they actually did come from your imaginary friend.

Among journalists, Caro is widely respected for having arguably the best sources. Been told that a number of times by journalists. Just keep on believing that no one on BF has any contact with AFL employees, footballers, journos etc.

Lol, now you have imaginary journalist friends and better still, they come to you.

BTW, if you gonna use that kinda crap try with 'an' imaginary journo friend, singular as it sounds a little more believable some idiot might actually believe you.

Where did I say 'friend'? I'd be lying if I kept it singular too. Notice you avoided the Carro comment - guess you had no idea about that too. You probably won't want to know why Clarko travelled to the USA to confront Franklin in the 2012 post season eh?

Im not a journo I have no respect for her or her gutter trash style I don't care what others think, as for why he travelled to see him as you put it, you are correct.

You don't need to make anything up. The AFL have said repeatedly that the club would have to live with whatever the result of this is. You're not dropping anything new here.

I don't care if buddy only kicks 20 goals for the year , if he can be a major influence this week and we win the game, I will be wrapped. He was recruited to play big games against big teams in big matches...cannot wait for this week

Buddy must be loving the punch on in Bondi between Packer and the channel 9's boss, he didn't even make todays paper for once.

cant speak for everyone else, i wasnt bagging or denying what you say, i just dont think anyone can say how many years any player has, not saying i think he has 9 either.

But your insider says 4-5 maybe its right, but if you came and told me the same person said buddy could play another decade id still think oh well, lets see
