You don’t think he’s happy with the spongey floors?
At this stage I'm wondering if there's some tenuous connection that could infer that spongey floor causes soft tissue injuries. Yes, though, the further from spongey floor he is the better.

...bored and waiting for the trade/draft period, honestly.

In also positive news, key forward Kaine Baldwin will make his return from a calf injury this weekend.

Murphy said barring any hiccups during this week’s training, Baldwin will return via the VFL.

“For ‘Balders’, there’s some really good news for him,” Murphy said.

“He’s at the end stage of the rehab for his calf.

“He ticked of all the markers on the weekend. He’ll train fully across the week and if he gets through this, he’ll play through the VFL this weekend.”

Thought 2 would have been appropriate but hopefully he becomes more consistent next year and gets 2/3 years.

Might be because he's a rookie. At the end of next year we either contract him for 2-3 years and upgrade him or we have to put him back through the draft to keep him as a rookie.

Would be what they are thinking. :)

The way I see it, it's like the world record line in the pool.

Baldwin is out in front but, I think, he's going to get swallowed up by the record (i.e. the competition) as he turns for home.

I have the same concerns I had when I last raised it. I don't see a 1-wood he can fall back on at AFL level. Not at his height and not with his mobility.

I guess we'll see if he can add to his mobility in the off-season.

I'm not rooting against him. All power to him if he can emerge a more mobile player. I'm not expecting it to happen.

It would have been premature in the extreme to give him 2 years.

Whenever I have watched Kaine at VFL level, I get Mitch Georgiades vibes at AFL level and he has enough tricks to be a 100 game AFL player.

Get the confidence, get the fitness further and we could have a guy in that Tim Membrey mould who despite his short comings, simply kicks goals. That is his 1 wood as you like to call it.

1 year deal is sensible, I have strong doubts that he will make it. Speed and mobility are my concerns, hopefully this is addressed this preseason and he can cement a spot, I just fail to see AFL qualities with him. If he becomes our 3rd tall, opposition defences will not be concerned one bit.

Would have liked 2 years for him - I really liked his last game against Hawthorn.

Rutten had a strange hesitance to play young talls - hopefully he gets more of a chance with our next coach.

Georgiades? In what sense.

Baldwin can clearly play the game. If he had Eyre's rig he'd be the number 1 pick in any given year.

But he's going to be playing on guys who are just as big, if not bigger, who are much more mobile.

He’s as good a project as any to put time into. High pedigree, high character, works hard and wants it.

I’m barracking for him big time.

High work ethic in training and on game day. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him kick 20 or so goals at afl level next year if another injury free preseason.

I'm extremely bullish on him. If he gets another injury free preseason I think he goes past Harry Jones by the end of 2023 (who I still like btw).

At 19, he kicked 24 goals in 11 VFL games in what was his first full season of football since his top age u16s. The kids has plenty of ability.
