I thought he did enough to warrant 2, all things considered. He was better than I expected. But fair enough.
I think what they meant was if we gave him two years, we would have to upgrade him to the senior list (max 3 years on rookie list rules).

We may not want to do that for list management purposes or because we want to see one more year free from serious injury before we do.

He is a natural footballer and a hard worker. It’s been fair to knock his athleticism so far, but I can see him being pro enough to get a specialist coach to work on his agility this off season.

His 2022 was a great return post two ACLs.. he is young enough (and early enough in his recovery journey) to get another level out of his body.

I’m backing him to make it.

Interested to see what he can bring with a full pre season & new lens on the him & the team.

Get the feeling he’s a few good games away from unlocking a useful player for us.
I think he would have been fine to keep in the side most of the year. With the exception of the Pies game he was competitive and generated two shots a game. Though a few missed entirely, but I'll put that down to nerves as he's great at VFL level in harder conditions.

Playing as the third tall is his go. That’s where he’ll have some competitive advantage in match ups via his strength and nouse .

If he can improve speed/mobility then he has a chance, especially given his high intangibles.

If asked to play even as a second tall he will struggle to find ways to trouble AFL quality defenders.

Kaine Baldwin's stats are on par with Sam Weidemann at the same age whom we are currently linked to.

I would much prefer us to stick with developing Kaine alongside 2MP and Harry Jones in the senior side.

If we are in need of adding a KPF, let's head to the draft, at 25, if Weidemann was good enough, he would be in the AFL side

I look at weidemann as decent enough swing for the fences.. He probably gets 2 years then after that he might stay on the list as the mature age depth tall forward James Stewart style. Adding another 18 year old tall doesn’t really makes sense atm with Eyre, Baldwin, brand, Mcbride and even Bryan. So adding a mature ager (who has upside and potential to get better) is a decent enough list move IMO

Sooo, we wanted someone to play on big gorillas, he may be a fraction undersized in terms of height but he is certainly built like a brick shithouse.

I don’t really see a reason why he couldn’t follow McCartin in smashing thre VFL as a contested marking CHB

Because he'll make it as a forward?

I feel he is building nicely after all the footy he has missed. Probably needs to fine down a bit more and find a bit more pace, but I think he’s coming on alrigh.
