Either we have thrown in the towel or this is just being used as a motivational carrot to him. If he plays, it's year over from the club's point of view.

Why’s that? We’re screaming out for more inside grunt. Ross is doing his bit but he needs help. Who’s going to do that apart from him?

That’s my view to , didn’t suprise me that he was preferred to naish at this stage , we need to further develop inside setup as it’s been a constant in our 3 losses that we were badly knocked up outa the guts , would like to see another ruck option too as I’m not sold that Balta offers much in there , prefer him developing in a key post

The club's point of view, or yours.

Maybe if he is selected to play he's good enough to play, and compete in their eyes.
its pretty well acknowledged that he was not a ready made prospect at the draft, and that his performances in the VFL are not of someone bashing the door down.

if we are relying on ross and rcd to be our inside grunt, then either the club is overly optimistic or is looking towards the future. Our midfield would contain RCD (debut), Ross (4? games), Higgins (2nd year), along with balta (6 games), Stack (5? games), baker (6? games) also in the team and expected to play pretty major roles (maybe baker excluded in terms of major role). Plus the chance aarts could debut.

Theres a critical mass of inexperienced (fitness and games) players an afl club can take into a game and expect to be flag material, which we have well exceeded, and id be surprised if the club wasn't thinking about it. They publicly project optimism but behind doors im sure they're much more down to earth and honest. When 6 of your team is second year or could potentially still be playing juniors, youre not gunning for a flag, unless they are all somehow pick 1 and rising star worthy.

If you get dealt a sh.tty hand you still have to play it as best you can and make the best of it.
It’s getting a little mileage into kids which is a positive and we’ll have more options in 5-6 weeks, if we can win a few we’re not out of it.
I don’t think RCD is ready and more than likely emerg but we will need him next year and we need to be proactive bringing kids on without as much depth as last year.
I think that team is the best chance we’ve got at winning the game

Like cartoon?!?
Who ever said carlton had taken 6 rising star worthy players in the last 2 years? Even carlton has had to spread their high picks over 4-5 years.

I was talking players like darling, Nick reiwoldt, lever, Cameron (as kpps) and heppel, Martin, deledio, selwood, wines, Stephenson (as kids and flankers) as players who can step in and have a legitimate input within the first couple years. If you managed to grab 6 of them in 2 years you've nearly guaranteed yourself a flag or 2. Our young guys are promising, but not at that level yet except maybe Higgins and stack, although stack needs to put it together for longer.

I reckon they have...

Yes it was widely acknowledged RCD's tank wasn't upto scratch. He's been decent in the vfl without being above the level. Perhaps the 666 rule is forcing our hand here.

I agree regarding our extreme inexperience. Put our performances into a bit more perspective. Behind closed doors yes we are probably more honest with where we are at. However it would be a mix of short and long term goals. Our injured players will be back eventually. Until then it should be win what we can and stay in touching distance of top 4.

I would not say we are waving the white flag on the season.

I don't think the club has necessarily waved the white flag, more like they have released the shackles holding them back from playing kids because they've admitted success is unlikely this year, with the view that if we get a bit lucky and it goes well we might be a shot later in the year

I think Naish should be first in line, IMO he is stiff to not be called up.
He is stiff but that has nothing to do with rcd. Houli is first picked/**** McGee has had one bad game. For some reason they want to play menadud

I'm totally guessing, but I'm thinking that Connor may be under pressure to maintain his spot on the list. So they will give him every opportunity before possibly moving him on?
