Most people had RCD going way before Stocker and RCD has a lot more upside long term so I think we have won big time

Yeah I agree. All the talk pre-draft was that RCD would go way before Stocker and he falls through to us. Happy with this.

I'm hoping Graham and RCD in a few years time will be leading our inside mids division and leading the way for our pretty boy outside mids to do their thing.

We needed the grunt and hopefully RCD develops into that hard inside clearance mid that we really need. We were well beaten in clearances from stoppages towards end of last year (and certainly in the Prelim).

edit: Just seen the highlights and this kid is very much a stoppage / contested ball winner. Clears the ball out of tight situations with handball. Love these types of players (Cripps, Oliver...). Will need time to build his frame though before he can take on AFL level mids. Excited with what I have seen.

I wonder who we would have chosen had stocker still been available? Interesting although I like the big body and burst of speed on RCD. Happy with the choice.
I went to the pre draft analysis at the club last week. They wanted a big body mid and rated RCD higher than Stocker by the way Matt Clarke presented the players. They loved Hill but didn't feel he was what we needed.

i am also of the same opinion. Looks a two to three year project before his body will be ready and he is a low possession player also. Hope I am wrong but just dont think he's a top liner. Both Cripps and Oliver had much better stats than this guy.

He has spent more time playing forward than those guys. When he plays midfield he is a gun. Because of his height they played him a bit as a tall forward this year, something he isnt used too. Don't read too much into stats. Great pick up for us.

Would have taken Stocker (according to his father).

Stocker is a good get for you guys, I guess we'll see how things pan out out over the next few years. I think you know what you're getting Stocker, very solid. A bit more risk/reward with RCD as I think others have said....but .I think RCD could become a very good 3rd tall with his burst & height or attacking half back. But as I said very interesting to watch him develop...

Lot of work to do with RCD. But he has the tools to be awesome. genuine breakaway speed and top notch skills to go with his size and contested ability. Seriously top 10 quality, but with less of a track record. If he works hard and is smart then our development team might polish this guy into a diamond.

Shocked he was still on the board.

You keep saying this, sounds like Stocker senior is a little bit annoyed about where Jnr ended up, no need to say what other club would've taken your son at if you are happy no matter where your son ended up at.

With 3 of our starting mids <180cm Prestia Higgo and lambert , RCD adds a much needed dimension to the mix with his size. Would be surprised to see him early but who knows , building his tank and some muscle will be high on the agenda and understanding how we roll ,,, once again,,, Very happy we got him

Nah - he was just hoping he didnt go to Perth. I don't think it mattered to him whether he played at Carl/Rich/Haw
