Wouldn't mind the Instagram superstar Tarryn acknowledging Sheezel and Larkey's achievements like the rest of his teammates.
This was one of the reasons why I said last week that I don't think he'll be at North next year.
Doesn't care to engage or celebrate team mates achievements. He's not connected with the rest of the group off field, by his choice.

To be fair, I don't think he'd be that engaged at another club, either. Doesn't come across as that sort of bloke. Footy's there for the paycheck, and he'll put in effort onfield providing his personal life is tickety boo, but that's where it stops.

I've expressed doubt even through this good patch regarding his commitment to the club, but it doesn't feel good to say I might have been right, because he's a gun. Highest ceiling at the club, with LDU a distant second. Perhaps the best case scenario is that we get something decent for him now, sever all ties, and once and for all put an end to the emotional rollercoaster that seems to accompany him everywhere

Or maybe it's just not what he likes to use social media for? He celebrates goals harder than any other player. He jumped all over Souva after his 9th goal like Lindsay Thomas on Drew Petrie in the 2014 Elimination Final.

Understandable, but as FW said, I am happy for an extension with behavioural clauses. Testing the market is interesting, but if done under club permission, then I’m not too worried.
lol remember when Collingwood gave DeGoey behavioural clauses?

and he folded it up and said push it up your bum.

and Collingwood came back and said yes sir here’s another $50k.

This is football. When you’re good you’re good. Every club would sign TT up in a heart beat.

… except maybe Sydney. They’re a little bit weird like that.

As I recall, he was active on social media and engaging with our players a couple of years ago, before his personal life went off the rails.

He's a gun, yes, but he's been an ordinary bloke. It seems that so many are just disregarding the latter.
I'm in the camp to move him on now. I suspect there will be another slip up with him, and I'd rather it happened when he is no longer with us.

You hang around dogs long enough eventually you'll get fleas.
I couldn’t agree more. He is as slimy as a real estate agent, I would trust a second hand car salesman before I trust that grub campaigner.

The problem is that he’s got the skill set we badly need. Other than LDU, he’s our only inside/outside match winner

Would you really think that? Lazarro puts effort in every week, plays a ****ing role and gives 100% all the time. It’s obvious that North have said “LOL you arent getting anywhere near your last contract, tell your manager to find pick 5-8 and we’ll let you go… Oi campaigner, and they have to take your 700k too yeh”

I’d swap him straight up for Ridley and pay 50% of his contract next year.

You're only saying that cos he won us a game you wanted us to lose.

Having Ridley will win us many more.

Pick 8 and thatcher plus they take his entire salary. I’d be ok with that too.

Tarryn is a freak and a superstar, if he goes we would need a freak and a superstar in return. Or 1 x very good and 1 x average player

My biggest fear is we blink. We seem to have the attitude that if someone doesn’t want to be here, let them go and move on.

  • He was pick 7
  • He is 23
  • He showed absolute star quality this year (of the best kind - goal kicking mid).
  • He appears to have turned around his behaviour (all clubs will take the risk).

Minimum 2 first round picks in top 10 (or top 6 pick this year and future first).

Otherwise, let him play out his contract and hopefully get swept up in the rise up the ladder with our young group.

This is spot on. And anyone deciding his relationship with other players based on insta likes didn’t see him interact with Simpkin on the weekend.

It’s either a deal too good to refuse or we see how he feels after a few more fun games like the GC game.

I posted last week that I didn't think he'd be on our list next year because he'd be seeking a trade.

I'd rather we trade him out this year than next year, because we'd get more for him now. Next year he'd have the option to walk himself to the PSD and we get nothing.
He is the best talent on our list, but probably the poorest character based on available evidence.
I say we move him on for the best possible deal this year, which has to include a first rounder, we finish that chapter and then close the book on what has been a season from hell, and then we start the pre-season full of positivity with players who WANT to be there.

That’s a fair enough view

I want to keep him because of the talent level but I guess we don't know the club environment and how TT fits.
The club has to make the judgement as to whether he is likely to stay at end of 2024 if we held him to his contract.
If it's a no, we're better off moving him now while he's got a contract as you always get more than when out of contract.
Rankine was out of contract and they basically only got pick 5 from Crows. Lever got pick 10 and a future 1st.
The worry I guess is if he requests a trade to a top 8 team at the end of 2024 like Port the 1st round picks are nowhere near as attractive as perhaps the GC or Bombers top 10 picks this year. It'd be two late 1sts next year if he goes to a contender.

Hard to gel the bloke getting around Larkey after he kicked the 9 bagger and around his team mates after the W, to the bloke now exploring options to get out.
Harsh realities of the footy business I guess, but you’d have to think it would take a good offer for him to walk.
His snake oil manager would be driving the explore all options path.

Who was it that reported his alleged contract request to the club on here? 700k a year at three years was the figure iirc. Pretty steep given his behavioural history. I'd be shocked if other clubs offer him anything much better than that. He's after the dosh, so hopefully the club get the balancing act of reward vs. financial responsibility correct. Because he obviously isn't gone yet, purely based off body language, at least.

Got a good mind to ignore this thread lol. I can't take a whole off season of monkey business and uncertainty.

I think his manager is just playing games in his contract negotiations

I think there's every chance we're playing a game, Essendon are, and so his manager.

And that Tarryn is the only one - ironically - on the level here.

I reckon it’s probably his ******** manager driving it.

But after the way North has stood by him he should be telling his manager to shut this shit down.
