I hate to make light of the overall issue, but anyone that chooses to go to an employer about domestic violence and not the police obviously is not feeling seriously threatened.

Anyone that felt they were in an unsafe or threatened position would be in front of the police in a flash.

I have no doubt they have broken up and it’s most likely got nasty, but it also sounds like a revenge plot to get him sacked.

I’m not trying to downplay Domestic Violence but something doesn’t seem right when the impacted party seems more concerned about raising the issue with the persons employer and not the police.

Are you perhaps mixing up Chris and Shane Yarran?
Sorry, straight over my head.

For the masses. I personally think TT is gone and I feel for him. Had a horrid upbringing and of course as we saw with the al clarko fiasco. Certain people are treated differently, until they front court.

oh well.

The estranged ex-partner of Tarryn Thomas has called for the troubled North Melbourne midfielder to be sacked as he faces fresh domestic violence allegations.

The footballer was set to front AFL House on Thursday over the claims but the interview was pushed back to early next week due to delays with legal representation.
“After serving the North Melbourne Football Club a notice to interview late Wednesday, the AFLIU sought to speak to Thomas (on Thursday) however Thomas’ legal representatives were not available,” a spokesman said.
“Thomas will be interviewed by the AFLIU as soon as possible early next week.”

North Melbourne was notified of the claims on Wednesday, and were reportedly unaware of the allegations until the midfielder was given notice to appear.
It’s understood the probe was sparked by claims lodged by a woman through the AFL’s online complaints portal.
It comes as Thomas’ ex-partner Jamai Curran told the Herald Sun that she was not surprised about the new domestic violence allegations, calling for him to be booted from the Roos.
“We need to stop making excuses for abusers because of their job, age and childhood,” she said.

“Generally, a lot of abusers don’t think their actions are wrong.
“They convince themselves that their victims somehow deserve it.”
The 29-year-old dated the footballer for several months before he threatened to share an explicit video of her in 2022.
Thomas was charged but escaped conviction, instead ordered to pay $1000 to charity.
Ms Curran said Thomas never faced harsh consequences for his behaviour.
“I think he believes the way he treats women is justified because of his status and power,” she said.
“I think he believes he’s entitled to treat women however he wants.
“North Melbourne and the justice system not punishing him just reinforces it is OK because he never faces consequences.”

Ms Curran said the AFL were “letting women down” by prioritising players and their reputations.
“I think the AFL are letting women down and at this point, need to be held responsible,” she said.
“The AFL and clubs talk so much about domestic violence and taking it seriously but when push comes to shove they don’t do anything about it because it’s more important to protect players and reputations.
“It will be interesting to see how this plays out and if AFL finally matches its actions with its words.”
The new claims are among a string of other domestic violence allegations.
Last year, another woman told the Herald Sun that Thomas allegedly “turned really evil” and threatened to physically assault her when they were casually seeing each other.
“He said he wanted to beat me, he became abusive and manipulative,” she said.

An ongoing issue here is anyone can anonymously submit a complaint to the afl just to try derail his career even if not true (because of prior allegations)
Any good complaints system should have the ability to make complaints anonymously. The problem is the fact that we know a complaint was entered anonymously, who the complaint is about and when the meeting was scheduled.

My point is you might get a lot more fake complaints in this particular instance

Now that it’s been public around past ones (which were disproven) people can pile on and lie but be taken more seriously (in an attempt to sabotage tarryns career out of spite)

So just to be clear, this article and any comments or quotes contained within have nothing to do with the new allegation. It is rehashing an old allegation that was dealt with by the courts, the club, and the AFL.

No the issue is that there’s a confidentiality issue here.

Anyone should be able to make a complaint such as seeking X put bets on a game at a TAB, but the expectation that for all parties is that it’s confidential.

Now that it’s been public around past ones (which were disproven) people can pile on and lie but be taken more seriously (in an attempt to sabotage tarryns career out of spite)

And we are just as much likely to have no one report anything if they are publically dragged through the Harvey Norman paper

Mentioned above I’m referring to this particular issue that has gone public already

It's a waste of time article, just his ex who has nothing to do with the current investigation putting her 2 cents in.

I didn't write the article...

Mate of mine was dismissed from his high paying expat job in Asia based on allegations of sexual harassment by a female colleague on a night out where all had been drinking. Turns out he had been promoted to a role her boyfriend had been overlooked for. Was physically arrested in front of his wife and young children while awaiting a flight back home. Luckily for him his brother is a very successful barrister in Australia and able to get all charges dropped with CCTV footage showing it was a complete scam. Nevertheless, didn't have his work permit or job reinstated, nor did he receive any compensation for that matter! The boyfriend ended up in my mates role. Who know's what the facts are in Taryn's case, this sh1t does happen!
We’re allegations made multiple times over multiple years?

Not making any comment about subsequent events, but no conviction and a $1,000 donation to a charity is a proverbial wet lettuce leaf. Totally understandable she feels let down, tbh.

Or it’s the correct punishment for the crime unless you are 100% privy to what was said? If every AFl footballer this week gets investigated for text messages they are sending around with inappropriate as opposed to criminal content then I would suggest more Tarryn would be on the front cover of the paper.

First offence for threaten to distribute an intimate image.

I’m surprised there was any punishment at all.

Exactly what I came here to say. Apparently no complaint has been raised with the police, why would you go direct to the AFL?

The other perspective is that he did a lot of other inappropriate stuff which didn't make it to court, and the sum total of punishment vs actions doesn't measure up at all.

That said, I'm not sure if going to the media to try and get his life completely ruined is justice either.

That is why complaints are investigated. You are never going to stop people making shit up.
