It is not really rocket science what they want to do but it will involve personal changes in the front half . Rather than Trucks more structured team defence plan they are looking at ramped up front half pressure. Chase . Tackle. Pressure.
In Trucks defence he did not have the small forward personal to do a lot in that area last year. There was only really Guelfi.

So I wonder what the forward half structure will be then? Not going to get a lot of forward pressure out of weight weid and stringer, then another tall if jones is in the lineup. You moreorless have to play 3 zippy small forwards if you want to play the forward half pressure game.

Stringer (if fit) is actually OK pressure-wise for a pseudo-tall. Not a star, but with some decently mobile smalls around him he's not a total liability on that front, and his offensive value is A+.

Stringer (if fit) is actually OK pressure-wise for a pseudo-tall. Not a star, but with some decently mobile smalls around him he's not a total liability on that front, and his offensive value is A+.

He’s good at contested situations and impacting contests but he really struggles at not getting drawn to the man with the ball when another Essendon player already has it covered.
