His name is Jake Stringer. He doesn't seem to have Danger's longevity, but he is that player (and has a flag too).
He's not really. Those guys play majority midfield with stints forward (or did in Richmond'snera) instead of the reverse for Stringer

you cannot be seriously putting stringer in petracca bont martin dangerfield company???
At his best ability wise he is . Back end of 2021 he pretty much won a few games for us . Trouble is most of the time je is not at his peak .

He's only been frustrating the last few weeks when played out of position.
Agreed. Does some dumb things playing as a defender, but seems to be copping a lot of hate because he was shifted to a wing, where Martin had been having a great season.

Would be good to hear Scott's actual reasoning for this, not just what he's saying in pressers

He should have been. Had the talent. You only need to look at the last 3 months of his contract year to see what could have been if he cared to be a professional.

He should be by FAR the most important player on our list. Ridley a contender but nowhere near as game changing.

Did Stringer choose Essington or did Essington choose him? Either way, match made in heaven.

Can’t wait to see him out the door.

It'll be interesting to see what players like Jake will be in 2024 now we have McKay in the backline.
For too long Essendon has been shuffling players around in defence, out of their best position, because we had no KPD.

Fingers crossed, but hopefully we can see the player Jake was like in 2021.

* what a weapon. Unfortunately doubt it translates to better football skill sets.
Maybe not but it’s a great message. He’s borderline best 22 now and he’s telling the young blokes “ you want my spot, you’ll need to earn it. I’m not giving it up.” He’s in ridiculous condition.

He’s super competitive as well - would guess he’s that bloke nobody wants to be matched up with pre-season. This is how standards lift.

The inclusion of Dursma may actually help Kelly retain his position. If Dursma can provide that running link down the wings, Kelly may not appear as stagnant with his ball movement.

In any case, players fighting for their positions is something we have lacked for a long time.
