He really gets a free ride and goes unnoticed like the wallpaper but he can't really do anything exceptionally well. He's an average defender, an average kick, average athletically. Maybe his only above average attribute is being out of position.

Have always liked guys like Kelly who run themselves in to the ground for the team every week. But it feels like he’s lost a step and just isn’t quite able to defend a man the way he has usually been able to.

Not sure if it dates back to that concussion, or if he’s just declined a little bit with age.

At his best he’s a great team-first guy to have, but if he’s not able to keep up with a man and lock them down then he’s not the kind of player who can offer much else.

I normally don't get stuck into role players like Jake...but twice in front of me he was corralled towards the boundary line and refused to kick right footed down the line. Turned back into trouble trying to get onto his left and stuffed it. Don't understand how professionals can only use one side for kicking.
In the 80s you had to be able to kick both feet. Doesn't seem to be a thing now.

Yeah, lost the contest numerous times cos of it but is also very slow decision maker. Back pocket stopper or no place in side.

A classic Scott footballer.
He has been in the side because despite his limitations he always does the team thing . It is not a Scott thing. Was terrible this week for sure but he has generally done a solid job.
