Missed the pre-season game against the Saints due to a delayed concussion, but played in the VFL practice match on Friday. Should be ready to go by the sound of it?

Dons fans will hopefully get to see the club debut of new recruit Kelly, who has overcome a delayed concussion diagnosis.

After taking a knock to the head against the Western Bulldogs, the former Crow missed the Dons’ final practice game against St Kilda, but Murphy said the defender would likely be available for selection against the Cats.

“(Jake) had that delayed concussion from our practice game against the Bulldogs, where he got some good minutes from that which was important,” Murphy said.

“He got a little knock which kept him out for the Saints game, but he was able to get in 60 minutes of match practice on Friday, so another important step for him.

“He hasn’t missed a beat from a conditioning point of view, so we’ll assess him over the course of this week and put his name up.”

If effort and hardness is going to be a conditional thing and someone actually needs to show the rest how it’s done on a week to week basis then Kelly is recruit of the year and it’s not even a discussion.

Diligent, smart, aggressive and prepared to wear contact and do a job.

Fantastic component of the back six for hopefully a long time.

More of these please. Dependable C-grader with unquestionable effort, and a brain.

I’d say Kelly is the exact kind of player a B grade guy should be; reliably AFL standard that gets the job done every week without being a star.

Snelling is a similar kind of guy.

Not flashy but we only got him to release Ridley, Redman & / or Hind more. Not really seeing that chemistry... yet.

Was solid enough but did get turned a couple of times and lost 1:1. Still, reasonable enough and happy with the acquisition still
These boys need to lift their game, cause they are killing my boy with the turn overs :p

What did he say?

Let me guess "I was born to destroy Jordan Degoey on ANZAC day..."???

That’s a snippet of it. Calling out the bull***t. He was known for his hard work ethic and leadership at Adelaide and you can already tell he doesn’t stand for some of the efforts given today. Way better hearing post match comments like this compared to the usual ‘we are really disappointed’ ‘the boys are hurting’ ‘we have to get better’ ‘we owe the fans one’.
